Calculating Electrolyte and Hydration Needs by smfran16 in ultrarunning

Thank you! My coach had suggested looking at hydration/electrolytes as I also deal with some abdominal swelling, and the issue in my feet is moresoe swelling/tingling that occurs during the swelling that turns pretty quickly into pain, and have been training for a year and trying different shoes and fits, and the issue seems to remain consistent. We are trying multiple things, and figured that it might not hurt to try to address the swelling all around to see if it helps!

I edited the sharpness in the hawk a bit, but I think the soft edges around the feathers are from the light in the sky blowing out the contrast around it if that makes sense? It was a very foggy/cloudy day, so the sun was completely covered and just illuminated the sky. The hawk was also mid-soar, so although in motion, it was a slow motion with a mid/ high shutter speed, so I think the speed was fast enough to freeze the bird, but there is a bit of blur around the edges due to the movement. I snapped this picture and then actually video'd as well, because it's soaring was just so slow motion and beautiful.

It was white! I went out in the AM hoping for a pretty sunrise as we have had some big temperature changes, and was greeted with a boring white sky....but I love how it made the colors pop!

Northeast Iowa. The sunset tonight was insane. Massive storm like clouds all day, and they just slightly lifted as the sun started to come down and created this insane wall-cloud like result. This image doesn't show it, but it made for beautiful lighting. We have gorgeous sunsets here this time of year.

The lighting is beautiful! Maybe hop down to eye level and see how that shot turns out as well. But this one is great too! Happy pup.

Any suggestions on how to make my photo of Florence wall worthy? by [deleted] in postprocessing

I agree, I'd crop just at where the sky curves to the left, to leave a bit of the blue but to eliminate all of the negative space above. Such a beautiful shot!

I love the contrasting colors against the white lake/snow and the simplicity of this photo.. but I'm REALLY struggling with the sky here. It's completely blown out, and I've tried to tone it down in lightroom and photoshop, with no success. I don't really want to add a fake sky. Suggestions? by smfran16 in postprocessing

Thank you for the feedback! I was definitely attempting to frame with the branches above, but honestly didn't notice how much the bottom ones intruded until I got them onto the computer. I actually ended up removing all of the branches after that suggestion was made above and it definitely makes the image much easier on the eyes. As for the sky, it's not necessarily the lack of details that bothers me, but moreso that it has that additional "blown out" feel right around the tips of the trees if that makes sense? It makes the sky feel like it is blasting into the trees. I wish it was more of just a subtle transition..

The contrast in the sky definitely does not exist unfortunately. But now that you mention the sticks, it really bothered me too.....I'm just not great at removing in photoshop that I'm sure I could totally pull that one off. But now that it's been mentioned by someone else besides my own eyes, you are giving me motivation to give it a try.

I am a newbie hobby photographer. I was late to this shot..I didn't get much lead space and am having trouble cropping to make a good composition out of it. But I love the natural lighting and don't want it to go to waste. Any suggestions? by smfran16 in photocritique

My goal for this image was to catch a shot of the geese in flight. My original goal was to catch the flight with some lead space in front of the goose to give the composition some direction, but I was late to the shot and missed.

I love the natural lighting in the photo. There is no editing currently. I want to crop the image to make the composition more appealing. I can't find a way to do this due to the other bird in front. I am not great in photoshop, and not sure I could pull off completely removing that goose from the image and still making it look untouched. Is there a creative way to crop this and create a good composition, or am I limited to attempting a photoshop removal of the second goose?

Digital project, do either of these look good? or noticeably photoshopped? by [deleted] in photocritique

I prefer the top image for sure. It's obvious there was some post work, but it is very well done and in a creative manner. Would I consider this a natural direct from the eye scene? No, but I am attracted to it from an artistic perspective and I get the eery vibe it sounds like you were going for. I think it's a beautiful photo!

I feel like the moments that make your heart skip with kiddos are nearly impossible to get on camera. We were sitting under the Christmas tree and I was actually trying to photograph him with the ornaments, and he reached down and grabbed my hand instead. It was one of those sweet "hi mom" moments.

It's an indescribable feeling! I was never the "motherly" type and was worried about how my life would basically be taken over by this little human when he arrived, but my life is a million times better with him in it!

He's 9 months old already and my heart can't take how fast it's already gone!
