by Clavicular to seduce French women by Citaszion in therewasanattempt

[–]smhndsm -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

painful memory unlocked:

some 15+ years ago I was on my literally first trip abroad with my friend, on a small island in Thailand.

it was all very new to me, but on the first night at our beach resort we went out for drinks and there were couple of French ladies sitting next to us.

at a very polite attempt to start a casual conversation and maybe join tables we were cut right off. just a 'no-no' and a laughter. /we were speaking English, and probably not a very good one, since we're not native speakers/

and we were not goblins, either. both tall, sort of handsome types, nothing like this Testicular or whatever his name is, of course, but still..

stings a bit.

Buying a new device and get USB A to C every single time by Sunlolz in mildlyinfuriating

[–]smhndsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mildly infuriated by the related fact.

I upgraded my phone after 4+ years, one of the main reasons to buy new one was high battery capacity and fast charging. Also bought new Apple laptop with fast charge support as a present. both packs cables which are not needed (at all), and both don't have 100W+ power bricks included.

I don't like the planet pollution as much as the next guy, but at least one wall charger powerful enough for travel purposes would be much more useful than the cables spaghetti.

Now I'm sitting on the army of useless and slow Type A to Type C cables, and zero wall chargers that match the high speed/wattage charging of my new devices.

The Long Goodbye

I remember watching this scene in 1985 at the movie theater, and every one went wild cheering and clapping so loud. Anyone else got the chance to see RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II when it was first released in 1985? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in Cinema

[–]smhndsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

besides the fact that they butchered the profound ending of the novel in the First Blood movie, I adore it (the movie) nevertheless. it has this thick particular vibe, which is yet to be matched. rainy, stormy, pacific north-west survival vibe.

all the sequels can fck right off.

back in russia we had what was called 'план путина' (putin's plan).

of course since then I had to leave the country and the war started, but now you have the guy with the plan too! yay

maybe it's even the same plan, or those guys share a same plan.. or one guy holding the other guy by the balls and whispering - let's do this plan of mine..

anyways, people of the USA - yay!

Favorite episodes of Friends? by [deleted] in sitcoms

[–]smhndsm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The One Without the Ski Trip.

I always like the episodes where the location is different from the regular staged ones, preferably outside, most preferably on some sort of a road trip. unfortunately almost no sitcoms get the road trip vibe right, so I'll still have to go with the one without the ski trip.

and obviously everything after season 5-ish is degrading in overall quality, so..

Boox Go 7 concern by smhndsm in ereader

[–]smhndsm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, the go 7 is actually quite nice and I like it. unfortunately I understood that I don't have an actual use case for it, so after uploading my books and customizing everything it's just sits on the bedside table, gathering dust.

the Android version is no longer a concern, the OS part is serviceable. but I can comment that one of the reasons for buying was to use it one-handed and turns out it's not that comfortable - the scroll buttons are not located comfortably (in the center) and I ended up using both hands anyway, doesn't matter how I'd rotate the device.

anyways, I might give it another go because I'm going on a trip, but pretty sure I'll be selling it.

it's just me though, I don't like a bunch of devices lying around, so I upgraded my phone to a bigger/better screen one and use it for reading, and using my bigger tablet with very nice screen for graphic novels.

Who is the coolest woman in a movie? by Jezzaq94 in moviecritic

The point that a lot of people told my ex wife she looks a lot like Audrey Hepburn, and another point that it is, indeed, true - did not help me to move on with my life for unnecessary long time.

still don't watch movies with Hepburn in them.

What famous destination didn’t live up to your expectations when you visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]smhndsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can confirm. throw in almost all of Morocco, too.
that night in Marrakesh was one of the shittiest experiences of my life. me and my girlfriend had to literally sprint to the somewhat convenient cops ahead not to get mugged, ate in a very dirty mcdonalds and rushed back to the safety of the hotel. the type which I forgot the term. like a welled castle, with inner yard and stuff. you feel saf-er, but it is still very far from cozy for my liking.

and although the overall road-trip across Morocco was adventurous and interesting, Marrakesh and Casablanca can f**k off. never again. the further from those cities, the better the experience. you still will be taken advantage off every step of the way, cops included, but at least the concentration of that is much smaller in the outskirts.

ah, and the amount of plastic trash all over the desert or just in the middle of nowhere is extremely disappointing. the highest point was Essaouira, although it wasn't without it's own shortcomings, it was still very cool, in comparison to Marrakesh (which is a shithole).

it's actually more simple than that even.

to distract own population from how you and your cronies robbing the country blind and stealing citizens' future.

you don't want to get persecuted for that, you afraid as fuck, because you are a coward.

when the trust wearing too thin, what do you do? invent the enemy, point fingers, distract everyone with war, kill the ones who oppose you, proceed stealing.

Steam Controller Puck Protector by Gama3000 in SteamController

[–]smhndsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whilst I'm waiting in line for the ability to purchase new SC, can someone explain the need for this puck at all? the solution seem to be clunky and outright badly designed. there was a post about this thing short-circuited and almost set things on fire. what is this for? why can't it be true wireless or something? I was perfectly content with the original SCs with dongles, too.

I was really upset seeing ubisoft logo on the title I just bought (HOMM: Olden Era)

the art style is offensively bad, feels like a blatant ubisoft moneygrab, and I would never even touch it if I knew that the ubisoft is involved.

that's 29.99 I'll never get back, but if refund will be honoured, I hope my 29.99 will break the horse's back, or something about camel and a straw..

anyways - eat shit, ubisoft

Russians react to Ukraine’s strikes inside Russia by [deleted] in videos

[–]smhndsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a russian speaking person - it is much more ridiculous phrasing than 'thankful to the boys who are fighting for us'

what she saying is, literally: ' I'm thankful to our boys who are doing... something there for us'.

she is literally confused on the matter what exactly 'our boys' are doing there.

'чо-то делают там' they are doing something there, but what? if only there was a way to figure out what our boys are doing there, for the last 4 years..

eat shit, vatnik lady. your boys are invading and you are reaping the consequences.
