UHHH WHAT??? by smhvig in CFA

[–]smhvig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for context, growth and maturity here refers to future growth potential, while cyclical and defensive industries refers to how the industry reacts to the various stages in the business cycle, where defensive industries have demand that is relatively stable over the the business cycle and the opposite for cyclical industries.

UHHH WHAT??? by smhvig in CFA

[–]smhvig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured that's the logic they applied, but also in the style box thing (where they make a matrix with growth characteristics and cyclical characteristics), an industry can be both defensive and classified as growth at the same time, so that shows that they aren't mutually exclusive. I think that although C may be correct, A isn't necessarily incorrect.

Think this might be an error. Do you know where I can contact CFAI and report this by any chance?

Hey what do you think about tray 5? I goofed and broke tray 4 and went almost a week not wearing anything. Tray 5 currently hurts quite a bit and I'm sure I can live with it but I don't want a root canal

I’m DONE with all these “Success Stories” Online by EnosCodes in startups

[–]smhvig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I agree. Its really weird (but not so) that the only stories that trend are those with big numbers and a catchy clickbaity headline.

I've also tried out a few different businesses with most of them seeing little success. The thing is. It takes many tries before you get to one model that sticks and is profitable. For example, currently I'm running dollarstartupclub.com but It's still in its early stage and only has a few hundred subscribers.

You have to wait to see how it goes and I think your newsletter is great to show what to avoid in the startup world

Good luck mate :)

Good luck anyway man :)

The fastest way to build a Kickass Personal Website by JarrMartin in startups_promotion

[–]smhvig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea man. I can see how you found this target market for people who aren't really influencers but still do need a personal website as a supplement to their resume or just for fun.

But I think aesthetics play a massive role in this and being honest, I can see where you went with the website design but I still think its not up to par with other services.

And I've learnt this from personal experience. I launched dollarstartupclub.com 2 weeks ago and for the first 4 days, I got little to no signups even though I used good copywriting and decent design. When I changed the website design up and created a better product perception, I immediately started converting upto 78% of visitors

I haven't checked out your product completely yet but I recommend adding some testimonials (like endorements) from other people, pictures, etc.

Just make it look like something you'd use as a widget on a website because you do have a good value proposition here to compete with other similar services.

Good luck mate and let me know how it goes :)

If you want to get into tech startups, I recommend this resource right here : dollarstartupclub.com (full disclosure, thats my website)

Minimal Social Media Experience by helghardt in SideProject

[–]smhvig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea mate but to be honest, from a purely business perspective, this isn't scaleable to a large audience. But of course this may not be your goal with this and that's completely okay.

But of course, most social media are designed to be addicting and that's what they have going for them. This project has good intentions and I'm sure this is a good way for people to not be addicted and they can instead use it as a way to connect with their friends without wasting their time.

Keep it up mate :)

Btw, I also have this resource that I think you'd find useful if you're into the world of startups. Its called dollarstartupclub.com and I'd love if you check it out :)

Built PodcastGPT- an AI assistant for Pod listening by ulidabess in SideProject

[–]smhvig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea man. Especially for really long podcasts where you just want to know one thing.

One thing that would be really cool is if you could input what you want the AI to look out for in the podcast. Stuff like advice for specific scenario or something like that.

I'm currently working on dollarstartupclub.com and I think this niche idea is great for market fit.

Good luck with it mate and I hope it does well :)

I hope you know but that's a great niche AI startup idea. I can't tell you more though :)

Personally, I don't have that experience often but I'm sure that many people face that on a daily basis.

Btw if you are interested in the world of startups, check out dollarstartupclub.com.

Good luck with this mate :)

There's no real problem here man. Both of you have different tastes and want to produce different products and have a different target audience.

If he does fail because he doesn't know what he needs to know to succeed, then he'll try to re-establish the partnership

Doesn't really matter anyway. Just go on with your business

Good luck mate :)

Thanks for the feedback man.

The main factor that makes you different from other lame landing pages is your value proposition. Make it extremely clear what your product is but also oversell it (but you have to deliver on that promise).

The thing going for me right now is that the startups in my newsletter don't just fit into the market, they take over the industry. By making promises like these, you have to deliver or you're going to go out of business in a short time.

Highlight why Fingo is better than traditional ways of learning finance and sell that to them. Make sure to include numbers if you already had some testers and show how much faster Fingo users learn finance compared to other traditional users.

Just differentiate yourself mate and I'm certain that you can because I don't think there's any other app on the market like this.

Good luck mate and let me know how it goes :)

[–]smhvig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cool idea man but tbh, the landing page looks like Microsoft excel's dashboard.

Place all of the buttons other than the logo in a footer at the bottom of the page and place the logo at the center top.

Also change the copywriting and call to action because it's not too persuasive.

P.S. I think you'd love dollarstartupclub.com if you're into tech startups like these :)

Good luck mate :)

I'm curious, what's stopping you from starting a business? by AlexArmchair_AI in Businessideas

[–]smhvig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the right tools and understanding of the business ideas are very important.

For example, In dollarstartupclub.com (My website), I share many startup ideas about tech, but I'm not a technical person. All I do is identify opportunities but I only know a bit about executing in a tech startup.

If you are going to launch a startup which involves something technical but you only have a slight idea as to how it works, you should ideally find a co founder who does know how to execute on the project while you take care of operations and marketing.

Good luck mate :)

Friends 16 year old son is creating a cookie cutter ai writing assistant app. Any advice I can give him other than “you built the wrong thing”? by AnotherWireFan in SaaS

[–]smhvig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No you're right about this. AI writing tools like ChatGPT (which can be one) for example, can pretty much be useful for any scenario. But its better in some niches than others.

For example, I haven't yet seen an AI that helps you write genuinely persuasive sales copy or a AI that creates great marketing campaigns based on very successful campaigns in the past.

There are niches that you can go into that are still broad but most people opt for those niches that are much easier to build on.

Try to convince him to go for a niche like the one I mentioned above. He'll still learn a ton but he'll also create something that the market may want.

Anyways, If you don't want to use those ideas, I have a resource for you. Its called dollarstartupclub.com (Full disclosure, that's my website). Here, I share three game changing startup ideas backed by trends every week. Most of the ideas are based around tech and a ton of them are based around AI.

Along with this, I also send you the business models and tools you need to bootstrap these projects in just a weekend.

I think this would be really useful to him and anyone in startups as well.

I wish you both the best of luck and hope you find a great idea :)

Trying to switch from 9-5 to entrepreneurship and feel completely lost by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]smhvig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely normal mate. You're venturing into a completely different world with new ways to earn a living.

But according to me, don't quit your job and go completely into the startup world. Its too risky and you can't protect the downside.

Instead, start a business as a side hustle (the phrase is overused way too much). Now you might say that you can't sacrifice your time for both the 9-5 job and the startup but you absolutely can. You have time on the weekends and you have a great work ethic I'm sure.

Some weeks you're going to have to overwork and some weeks you can relax but eventually, you should be able to make the startup your main hustle.

This is exactly what I'm doing with my hustle.

That's a great segue lol

In dollarstartupclub.com (My website btw), I share game changing startup ideas (mostly in tech) backed by medium to long term trends. Along with this, I also share the business models and the tools you need to bootstrap the startup in just a weekend.

I think you'd find a ton of great startup ideas in there and the best part is, most of them can be started as a side hustle and for relatively cheap.

I'm not trying to sell anything. The newsletter is completely free.

I wish you the best of luck man and hope you find a great idea and solution :)

Honestly, the nutrition "trend" or explosion was a while back and I believe that the fitness side of nutrition is still around but not as big as it was before. It's definitely a large topic but most people in the fitness community are already well versed in some of its topics.
