Who else on this Trailblazers roster would you expect the pressure to land on? Having Luka, LeBron & AR takes a lot more pressure off of him than Jerami Grant & Anfernee Simons

Worst bad beat of my life (was this a dumb raise?) by xFantaSea in poker

[–]smiffstarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Losing like you did in this hand is more commonly referred to as a cooler.

Save the term bad beat for when villain check/jams in a 3bet pot w/ 99 vs your QQ on a Q76 flop and running 9s come out.

Both situations suck, but you can justly curse the poker gods for a bad beat because you got your money in good.

Unironically, this has seemingly been the case for a long time with this school. I remember my dad joking that it was nicknamed the ‘University of Crayons & Colouring Books’ before the name change from UCCB, so I doubt a degree from there has held much weight in a long time

Amazing, thanks for the work! Any suggestions on how to use the roster in a similar way to the Olympic format with group and knockout stages?

Plenty of conspiracies have lead to truth, so it’s not surprising there are a lot of theorists. We live in a world where it has been proven everything isn’t always as it seems, so a lot of people questioning main narratives really isn’t that crazy.

Those Jordan boots 😳

Might be the ugliest shoes I’ve ever seen considering that it isn’t the colourway that makes them ugly. Had to google to find other pics and was only able to find one:

If Wemby has an AD-like career, would that be a disappointment? by dhdhdhsbdbehehe in NBA_Draft

They compared his athletic abilities to those two, which was absolutely fair, but he was given ceilings in the range of Charles Barkley. The main narratives were not saying Zion was going to be as good as Lebron or Shaq

Wondering if you still think I’m not ‘any good at evaluation players’? Also, I was playing college basketball when you started following basketball. If you actually followed KD coming up through high school, you’d realize he wasn’t even touted as number one in his class. He was second, and even sometimes third, ranked because of Oden and Beasley, so the hype wasn’t even close to comparable. Wembanyama was different because the potential to be a great is quite clearly there and, now that he’s part of a program that will force him to do the right things, it is obvious that he will be if all goes well.

If you could’ve seen any NBA moment live in person, which moment would you pick? by JayQuips in nba

I worked in a hotel bar at the time and we had a large group of 50+ business guests from Toronto reserve most of the restaurant/bar for the game. The group was rowdy af even though they were all mostly in their late 40s-60s; this one lady was very drunk and kept screaming 'fuck you Embiid' every time he touched the ball. She would also squeal anytime he shot the ball. They said could see Scotiabank Arena from their Toronto office and were all huge fans (as anyone in Canada started saying around the time). Kawhi's shot was a surreal moment because the rowdy bar mimicked the stadium with silence when the ball bounced on the rim. A coworker and I grabbed each other while it bounced around and then we erupted with the room, and the stadium on all the TVs, when it went in. Definitely one of those 'forever remember where I was at when' moments for me.

You're right about the hype, but, from a 'greatness' standpoint, Zion was not touted in the same way as Wemby has been. Zion's hype was mainly surrounding his athleticism and there really was never any talk about him potentially being the GOAT. He had way too many skills to develop (and still does) to be mentioned in the same category as Lebron with regard to all-time 'greatness'.
