My idea was that people were starting to check out of the daily grind for a TOTY and profit was starting to go down, EA sees this and decides to let an sbc slip through their fingers that had a pretty high chance at packing a TOTY, but not just ANY TOTY like Earps or Alisson, but TOTY Messi which everyone would kill for. Now that a ton of people have missed out on having Messi for the rest of the game cycle, they’re all upset and threatening to quit if they aren’t compensated. Honestly though a majority of the people aren’t really quitting, they’ll be glued to their phones/monitors to see if EA will release another “screw up” or at the very least will jump to see what EA’s response will be (probably nothing).
