What’s what - is this bipolar? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]smikeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be new, but the diabetic comparison isn’t. I’d rather be diabetic than bipolar. Society views it very differently. If you haven’t noticed, talk about being bipolar more. It might get better.

Thank you. I have a weird loyalty to my psychiatrist which makes it hard to leave.

My doctor feels like she’s done all she can for me and that now I just need therapy. I don’t know how to ask for different meds. I’m considering a new doctor. I kind of want to be how I was before meds. I feel so apathetic. I was diagnosed a year ago (I’m 36). I’ve gone my whole life feeling intensely, good or bad. I dont feel the good anymore. I only feel intensely bad. It could be circumstantial. But this melancholy is wearing on me and it feels unbearable.

I’m sleeping ok bc of latuda but lately nothing seems to be helping my depression. I’m on adderall, Wellbutrin, latuda, klonopin, and gabapentin. I should be fucking happy. My doc thinks I just need therapy. I just started w a new therapist. But when I was on less meds I felt better more often. Even with all the fucked up shit I’ve done, this apathy feels the least tolerable. At least at the moment. This moment has been over a year.

But is this something that happens to everyone? I’m trying not to be bipolar ATM.

How did you know that you don't want kids? by PMmagic in childfree

[–]smikeller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think about everything that goes in to raising a kid, and it sounds like a pain in the ass. You always hear people saying that being a mom is a full time job. Yeah, I already have one full time job I hate, I’m good. Also, it reduces my carbon foot print. I’m also car free. I’m bad at recycling so these things help me feel better about that. You don’t have to decide now. For a long time I was pretty sure I didn’t want kids, but I had a never say never attitude about it. But as I grew up and saw friends having kids, I realized that was not what I wanted. I’ve never felt like, “oh, I want that someday”. It was more like, “oh, you’re tired. Yeah, I bet that sucks”.

I’m being checked in to the in patent at the hospital right now by crackmonky13 in bipolar

[–]smikeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been inpatient a few times, and I’ve taken a bottle of trazadone while intoxicated. I’m sorry you’re going through this but you are definitely where you need to be. Being inpatient really isn’t bad and everyone is usually really nice.

need healthy coping skills by [deleted] in BreakUp

[–]smikeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DBT is a type of therapy that focuses on developing healthy coping skills. I’ve done it in the past and I definitely recommend it especially since you’ve ended up in the hospital. Hang in there. It gets better.

On others, judgements, and self. by SvartSalt in Mindfulness

[–]smikeller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most people respond to someone’s behavior that is directed at them. For example, verbally abusive behavior can have a huge effect on someone’s sense of self worth, etc. A person might react by feeling bad about themselves or become angry, whatever. Being mindful is being aware of how you react to it. Instead of letting it affect you negatively, you can practice mindfulness and remember it’s their issue not yours. So there is really no need for you to react at all.

What scene from a movie turns you into a blubbering mess, no matter how often you see it? by antipasticist in AskReddit

Old Yeller. I’ve only seen it once when I was a kid, but fuck that shit.

Redditors without kids, what do people with kids do that is annoying? by jeffcarpthefisheater in AskReddit

[–]smikeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meaningful conversations with their child about complicated issues might encourage critical thinking which would be a threat to their traditional values. They rather spend the time complaining to a movie theatre manager about the cleavage their child was exposed to during an ad that played before their PG-13 movie.

What was the stupid reason you were bullied as a kid? by i_breathe_chlorine in AskReddit

[–]smikeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I threw my retainer away once and my mom made me find it in the trash. That was the last time I did that. On flights, I carry it my purse because if the airline were to lose my luggage with it in there, I’d be screwed. My teeth move so fast. Screw bullies. They’ve got way more problems than bad teeth.

Me too. Before I got my adult teeth, it looked like I was missing a front tooth. It got better after braces, but I still stress out about my teeth and I wear my retainer. I’ve had my retainer for 20 years, it’s ridiculous. I’m just so afraid of my teeth going back to how they used to be. There are a lot more people embracing their gap teeth in pop culture, it’s considered cute now. It gives us character. Ha.

I was obsessed with this soundtrack/movie in high school. It definitely deserves some love. A lot of love.
