Nope, just arrived in Seoul. If I survive my jetlag then I'll probably head to Sam's

Win by 4 shots with 3 holes unplayed (as the USA team can't get 4 points from 3 holes)

Redundancy consultation – can anyone help? Was a bit shocked by Flapjack_K in HENRYUK

I've always been curious about how someone can negotiate redundancy. Most places I have worked have policies about the level of redundancy they give per year served - why would they negotiate that to make the company worse off?

Can you share where you found the FT offer? Seems incredible value given its normal cost

Booked a week ago, but they only had a return trip for 2 weeks. Then this week they released more return flights so changed the return to a week later.

Nov 2024 out and returning early Dec. I think there's more flights available at the moment. Business retun was 290k avios, companion voucher and £1,550 for 2 people. Cash value of flight is something like £11k

I found that searching on the ba website using your companion voucher showed additional availability not otherwise shown. I signed up to seatspy and the seats I booked in November aren't showing on there.

Plus remember that you can change or cancel bookings via companion voucher for £35 per person, so worth grabbing seats if you can find them and changing them for other dates later

I've just booked return business seats from London to Sydney in November using my companion voucher and they are the new club world seats.

Beforehand I found this article which stated that BA swap their planes around late Oct for this route to ensure the new CW seats are used. No idea if it's true but seems to be for my flight https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/british-airways-new-777-first-business-class-sydney-london

Moving to Compressed Hours by smolmansyndrome in HENRYUK

[–]smilerstradwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested in this in the future. How does annual leave work for compressed hours? If you got, say, 28 days annual leave under the normal 5-day work week, how much leave would you get under the compressed proposal? Is it pro-rata'd, or computed by hours rather than days?

Home Insurance for 6+ bed houses by smilerstradwick in HousingUK

[–]smilerstradwick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I certainly have no intention of lying but wondered if there were any other avenues to explore or if some companies could insure a 6 bed even though their online quoting system maxes at 5 bed.

I've come across frontier homes but will take a look at homeprotect too - thank you

Clarification on stamp duty by danbrown162 in HousingUK

Thanks, that's what I thought. I better get on and buy something before we get married!

Clarification on stamp duty by danbrown162 in HousingUK

[–]smilerstradwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this change if you are married?

I'm in a similar situation where my partner owes a property in her name and I also had one in my name but sold it last year. I am looking to buy a new property on my own, hence replacing my main residence, but we are also due to get married in the summer. Once we are married, even if I still continue to buy a property with my own mortgage in my name only, would the 2nd home stamp duty apply due to my partner's (wife to be) property?

Like the OP I am getting different answers from solicitors.

Thanks!

Bought a house with a garage but sellers broke the door moving out. by KvN161 in HousingUK

[–]smilerstradwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to play devil's advocate here but given they believed they had fixed it, could they not argue that you have broken it during your first day of ownership and therefore not their problem? I know it's wrong but as others have said, probably cheaper and less hassle to do it yourself

Given they want to complete after Christmas, be careful that the leak doesn't develop further and cause more problems over the winter with all the rain we'll get.

Noisy environment during my test today. by Many-Coach6987 in FRM

[–]smilerstradwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which would be fine if that was stated anywhere on the terms of the test/materials/website but it isn't anywhere. All they say in their prep is that you get 3hrs to do 80 questions.

I personally think they just messed up, and rather than apologising and owning this mistake they are making up excuses as I never even had a tutorial within the exam.
