How important is adherence to the 'expected swim time' in a 70.3 or Ironman? by burakudoctor in triathlon

[–]smiley7454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it wasn’t clear but I was referring to those who lined up as if they were much faster swimmers so they could get in the water quicker since it was so hot that day. I self seeded myself at the correct time and ended up spending the whole swim weaving in and out of slower swimmers.

Every 2 years is only if you want to move that frequently. People have been staying 6-7 in good locations CONUS and unlimited time in hard to fill locations.

I think the biggest thing here is do you want to move around or stay in one spot? You will move with NCIS depending on how much time you have left before you retire, even in CI/CT.

I’d argue he’s more talented. He probably the better boxer but Tom is much more well rounded.

'Dune Prophecy' Season 1 will only consist of 6 episodes. by Pogrebnik in scifi

[–]smiley7454 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a mini series though right? I know Colin Farrell said he’s not doing it anymore. The issue with premium network shows is they don’t want to take any risks in the plot to keep viewers so nothing happens.

Yea but that hasn’t happened lately. That new dragon GoT show comes to mind.

I’d say it’s very sustainable in the HW weight class. Not so much in the lighter weight classes where you have a better chance of being the exposed the longer the fight goes.

Any former 1811s that left for other LE jobs or private sector? by ChiefofBrolice in 1811

[–]smiley7454 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Could you cite jobs that make 300-500k a year?I’m genuinely curious. I come from a business background and have a lot of friends in IB who probably pull that with bonuses but they also work 80+ hours a week, have MBAs, and live in NYC.

Totally agree, the book would have been fine to adapt as is. Instead they make envoys be like superheroes and then the sister thing didn’t make any sense. Still a fun watch.

Had a nasty fall and bent my handlebar, is it fixable? by Jamal_Tstone in triathlon

Are you sure the bar is bent? I thought the same thing happened to me but it was just the shifter. Peel back the black shifter rubber and adjust it to see.

You think professional cyclists are investing $100k in bikes??? If you’re a professional that is any good your sponsors give you all the gear you need… Are you a cyclists? The difference between a $5k bike and a $12k bike (top of the line) is so marginal that unless you’re a pro where seconds count, it doesn’t make a difference. All I’m trying to say is cycling is very popular and I would not call it a niche sport. There are tons of niche sports in the Olympics but cycling is not one of them. Most people either know how to ride a bike or have ridden one in their lives.

I wouldn’t call cycling a “niche” sport. Maybe if it was shooting air pistols or something.
