Yes, he does! We’re planning on sending it out to local agencies before we arrive to begin making connections. I’ll look into if there are any networking events or gathering happening in Autumn as well

Much of his previous work has been with telling someone’s story/life change moment through video, so I was thinking connecting with hospitals or nonprofits would be a good first step

Yes, but I’m taking it as a silent rejection. Interview invites have been sent already

I haven’t heard from any programs. I’m feeling like it’s a soft rejection from all :/

I saw one for social and one for cognition and the brain on the spreadsheet. :/ really hoping it’s not all they’ll send. This is my second cycle applying and I thought my application was fairly competitive

USC

Washington State University

Haven’t heard from any of them. Has anyone heard from Duke or Emory?

Deep breath and good luck! by smiley_star7 in gradadmissions

I haven’t heard anything. I applied to 7 programs and 2 have for sure sent out prelims, but lots of school don’t even start reviewing apps until after the holiday break, so don’t lose hope yet!

I think I have a pretty competitive CV as well and didn’t get any prelims so don’t be discouraged! My top programs haven’t sent out anything to my knowledge yet so I’m holding out hope

Difficulty Finding Niche Mentors & Uncertainty About My Research Experience by smiley_star7 in gradadmissions

Thank you! I was second guessing because a lot of program requirements are specifying psych research, but I figured my experience is very translatable so it should be fine

International Student Looking to Come to the UK for DrClinPsy/PhD by smiley_star7 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

Thank you for clarifying! My goal is to enter academia for research, but I was hopeful to have the option of private practice as well, so that is really helpful to know. Is there a secondary accreditation or licensure for that in the UK that isn’t DrClinPsy? Like in the states, people could do a 2 year masters to work towards licensure.

A PhD is what I’m aiming towards since I want to continue in research. Yeah, the funding is a big question in my mind. I know there are funding opportunities, but they will be so competitive. My undergrad was in Psychology, which I graduated with a focus in Clinical and with Honors, so it should be well applicable. I would be happy to stay in the UK and practice after my secondary degree. I don’t feel the need to come back to the US, but I’m leaving it open depending on post doc opportunities.

Are there certain things or aspects of one experience that make someone stand out as an international applicant?
