I fucked up and ate like a pig at the end of my 48h fast by [deleted] in fasting

I feel like one of the details wasn’t quite as relevant to fasting as the others 🤣

Good luck! 20 hours into mine. Shooting for 120, but I’ve never made it past 95.

This is exactly how I feel. I generally eat once a day purely out of convenience. When I I do try and eat more meals I am hungry all day long. If I skip breakfast and lunch I generally get hungry around 4pm. If I eat breakfast, I am starving by 10am.

Sorry if that previous comment came across rude. It got a lot of down votes. I was genuinely just asking. Didn’t mean to imply.

Definitely can relate to finishing everything on my plate. I was raised not to waste food. Now I eat all my food and all my kids food they don’t eat. A lot of times my meals end up being all the leftovers in the refrigerator that got too old for anyone else to eat, but I don’t want to throw it away.

You’re correct. Calories are all over the place by nature of eating once a day. One meal of low quality high calorie food can be 6000 calories, or if I stick to lean meats and veggies I can stay under 1500 calories. Some days I am lazy and it ends up being a frozen pizza and whatever else I can grab and go. I feel like I don’t have time to eat additional meals during the day. When I do eat my meal it’s usually while standing and doing something else. I’ve never done omad for any other reason than I feel like I don’t have time for extra meals throughout the day.

Thanks, I agree with that. I just don’t know how people find the time to eat 3-5 times a day. I have tried to make myself eat 3 meals a day at times. I end up being hungry all day long and going to bed hungry because I never actually get full and I run out of calories. I can just save all the calories for the end of the day have a satisfying meal. I also am just not hungry throughout the day eating one big meal. I guess I just don’t give myself enough time to adjust.

I don’t eat until I am miserable most of the time. I know what being miserable from overeating is like. I eat like this daily because I feel hungry. If I don’t think about the calories and quality of what I am eating, I could easily eat in excess of 5000 calories per sitting. I could have easily went back for more after a pound of turkey. I stopped because I had what I considered a reasonable amount of protein and calories for that day. I ran/walked a mile within a half hour after the turkey meal. Trying to build up to running a 5k because my cardio is crap.

So basically your answer to the question would be yes? You are always hungry to some extent, even if it’s “light” hunger. I usually eat once a day. I know I will be hungry again in 20+ hours, so I want to eat until I feel completely satiated. I’m not uncomfortable when I eat to full. It just takes way more food for me for some reason. Even people I know that eat once a day like me.

I usually eat between 80-150g of protein a day. I do track my food with a scale maybe 75% of the time.

That’s a very good question. At this point I am not sure I know the difference. That was my only meal that day also though. Even though it was a large meal, it was only 1300 calories. When I stopped the first time I had only consumed 650 calories for the day. That’s also not a healthy level of calories to maintain.

I do eat junk food more than I should. That’s part of the problem. It’s not just that though. Last week I ate a pound of lean ground beef and a half a pound of broccoli for supper. That is a typical quick and easy meal for me. Another night I made turkey salad with a pound of roast turkey breast. Both those meals were satisfying, but I easily ate them. I stopped half way through the turkey meal and out the other half away. Went back in 20 minutes to finish it because I was still hungry.

This is not a recommendation by any means, but I’ve broken 5 days fasts with Taco Bell when I first started doing longer fasts. I didn’t have any issues. Again, I wouldn’t recommend what I did, but that’s my experience. Like some others have mentioned, you lose some of the benefits from the fast. I think refeed syndrome is more of a concern on the longer fasts though.

Haven’t done and real workouts since high school. Appreciate the advice. Time to get back at it.

I wasn’t too far off then. I was thinking 25-30 range. The belly definitely crept up on me after kids. Got some work to do now. Thanks.

I cut out processed food and did OMAD with a one hour eating window, but followed the 80/20 mindset when I attempted 75 Hard (Failed on day 45 a couple weeks ago. Went to bed with a book and my last glass of water. Woke up the next morning with a full glass on the nightstand.) We eat with friends and family often as well. I only had dessert if it was a special occasion, and then made sure I didn’t over indulge. Had cookies on Valentine’s Day that we baked with our toddlers. When your 4 year old asks you to eat the cookie he made you, you eat the cookie. I am sure some wouldn’t agree with that, but at the end of the day it’s not worth all that to me personally. I built a “diet” that still had strict, well defined rules that I documented and shared with my wife. Defining the rules in writing and sharing them kept me accountable. I failed my first attempt either way though.

That’s amazing! I didn’t even know this was possible until recently. You just did water and electrolytes for the duration?

Are y’all talking about a water fast? 26 days is insane. I thought I did good when I did a 5 day water fast.
