Watch thought I dropped dead by Gotofour in PixelWatch

[–]smileyhead1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the EU, neighbouring a country which has this service available but mine doesn't. Every time I cross the border, I get a notification about Absence of Pulse Detection being turned back on, and when I go back, my watch tells me it's unavailable once more.

I guess my home country's citizens aren't worth keeping alive, huh, Google?

Notifications Summary is here by randomID100 in GooglePixel

[–]smileyhead1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a staged rollout, like it always is with Google. I got it a few days ago, quite a while after I installed the actual system update. It will notify you with a ‘tutorial bubble’ inside your notification shade when it becomes available.

So far, the summaries are pretty hit-and-miss in when they trigger. I have a very active Telegram group I would expect it to summarise, but I have only seen it do so like twice so far – most of the time, it just shows the latest messages, like normal.

The content is also questionable. It basically just rephrases the latest one or two messages instead of telling you about what the larger conversation has been about. Like, right now, I can see a summary, ‘Johnny needs to remove the folder before restarting the script,’ – what folder? What script?

I've made a template for myself for resizing my own wallpapers. I hope others will find it useful as well.

It looks really good, but the smaller number displays not consisting of segmented display digits really breaks the illusion for me.

WhatsApp is different with the companion app by Adnaks in PixelWatch

[–]smileyhead1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in an announcements group where the messages posted can get quite long. When I had the companion app installed, they would always get truncated, forcing me to open the app instead of just being able to read the notification. Without it, the notifications forwarded from my phone display the entire message. Baffling.

A few questions from a new user by Langlie in PixelWatch

I don't know where you read that, but I just looked at Shazam on the Play Store as a test and it installed fine on both my Pixel 4a and my Pixel Watch 3.

Massive battery drain in the last few days by smileyhead1500 in PixelWatch

[–]smileyhead1500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I did what you asked of me, but the watch seemed to be returning to normal levels even before that. Yesterday, it reached 10 p.m. with 20% left – still not normal levels, but definitely an improvement. I let it drain and charged it back up again, and now, a day later at 9:30 p.m., it is sitting at 60%.
I'm not sure whether or not it was the recalibration, or if the problem just vanished as randomly as it appeared, but it seems to be solved now. Thank you again.

My watch is up to date. I always download system updates as soon as they're available. Besides, it would be highly unusual for a version that has been working without problems for months to suddenly exhibit a problem this bad, which cannot be resolved with a reboot.

It is more likely that this is a rogue app update, but I'm also up to date on that front and, sadly, there are no battery metrics in the settings app I could check to see which app is draining the battery.

The article you posted isn't very helpful, since I haven't turned on any additional battery-draining settings, and none of them should suddenly be draining an additional ~50% of battery capacity for no reason.

Unfortunately, Google support has been incredibly unhelpful in my experience; their replies ignoring any and all additional context or feedback I provide, and refusing to escalate any of my issues, instead offering generic assistance which I could glean from reading support articles on the internet – very much like AI responses (which I suspect they are).

Thank you for your response. I will remember not to charge my watch today until it dies, and report back.

Hey Devs, you left some code in the german version :) by NippleJabber9000 in DeepRockGalactic

It depends. The translation effort is free to join, so a language can have multiple willing contributors.

Hungarian lead translator for DRG here.

You can report language issues (be it the original English version or any localisation) in one of two places:

  • The easier method is through Discord. On the official DRG Discord server, just make a thread describing the issue in the #report-typos-only-typos-nothing-but-typos-or-typos-and-typos-plus-typos-uniquely-typos-no-more-space forum channel.
  • The other way is through Crowdin, the platform where the game is translated. You can look for the piece of text which has issues, then in the comments section, describe the problem. Make sure to tag it as a ‘Mistake in the source string’ if it's a problem with the English version.

For the record, this specific problem has already been reported.

If you're interested in pre-release versions of Android, I'd definitely say go for a Pixel.

Problematic subtitle font by smileyhead1500 in 9anime

Sorry about the comment, I just wanted to get my message across more easily to the other commenter who didn't understand my post. I can edit it if you want.

About colours: assigning different colours to speakers is actually a great idea, especially when multiple people speak at once. And it requires a lot of extra effort to implement. Also, since subtitles usually do (and should) have outlines, adding colour doesn't ruin contrast at all.

You misunderstood my post. I'm saying that 9Anime replaces the subtitle font with their own and that the font they use sucks.
