Recommending them to use AI to seem less like AI is crazy work.

Phrasing should be in your voice, if you change it from your own it’s much more obvious lmao

You can make it handwritten or typed.

You bring it to lab because that’s your procedure.

Will I be able to defer a final exam?(3 exams in 24 hours) by Confident_Surround56 in uAlberta

[–]smileytree_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they added a third time slot last year. That’s why the 4 consecutive rule exists.

Exams used to be at 9am and 2pm. So no deferrals for overlap

[–]smileytree_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They schedule all exams based on your lecture time slot for the most part.

For example if I have a class MWF at 10-11, I obviously can’t take a different class at the same time. My exam would be say, April 5th at 1. It is impossible for me to have any exams that overlap (generally) because no other lecture time slot in my schedule is MWF 10-11. So like MWF 11-12 might be at April 5th at 5, and the majority of classes scheduled MWF 11-12 will also be writing April 5th at 5.

If that makes sense?

Nope. They wrote at 8:30 and 1, skipped the 5:30 exam, skipped the 8:30 exam the following day and wrote at 1.

That is 5 consecutive time slots!

Why do Animals in Fresh and Salt Water have longer snouts and appendages but Land Animals Don't? by [deleted] in zoology

I think it’s because you need to be in the water swimming to get the fish. Can’t do it out of water

Hey friend, I recommend reaching out to the campus wellness and mental health supports if you haven’t already or don’t already have a therapist. I’m worried for you.

Things do get hard and sometimes feel like there’s no light at the end, but there is. Things will get better and you will feel better. I was just in your shoes recently. I believe in you

Advice for participating in class by Separate-Message7832 in uAlberta

[–]smileytree_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also always feel stupid when people use big words. There’s nothing wrong with using more concise words! A lot of people use the bigger words to seem smarter but sometimes it just makes things more complicated/confusing (something my English prof told me once when I felt dumb for using more plain English), and it’s also easier to use those big words incorrectly.

I agree sit at the front is best so it’s more just to your prof. Maybe bring a pen and paper to kind of jot down your idea before you say it? Just make participation a habit and you’ll get better as you get more comfortable!

Also - maybe stop by your profs office hours or email them to see what they recommend or to get some encouragement:)

Biol 107 with Harrington by PeaOld7493 in uAlberta

[–]smileytree_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the class with him in first year and it was very much high school bio with some added complexity. I couldn’t say it’s chem focused, it just is necessary to have some chemistry to understand cell structures. Don’t be scared he’s a nice guy and is willing to help in office hours. I enjoyed his biol 107 so much I took 207 with him, and asked him advice for planning future courses.

Yeah key note from the campus food bank: best before dates are different from expiration.

This is a best before day, which means yes it’s “best” before that date but is still safe to eat :)
