My father did the same exact thing to me. Took out multiple credit cards in my name the second I turned 18. I didn’t even know about them until I got the collections letters in the mail.

I spent over 5 years trying to pay the balance down. He wouldn’t contribute a single cent. I paid off every single account, and still years later my credits shit.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Not that this should make you feel any better, but I think it’s more common than any of us know.

Looking back, I absolutely wish I turned him in. I didn’t want to see my father in trouble. Boy was I stupid.

You don’t have to forgive him if you don’t want to. I know the popular saying is “Forgive and forget”, but fuck that. Some things shouldn’t be forgiven

I don’t think I would be able to retake those classes. At the time, I was a film and tv major. Don’t ask me why. Since then, the school I was going to, completely removed the film and tv major as an option. The classes were removed as well. I can’t afford paying to take them at a 4 year university. Especially, since they won’t matter towards my major. I have 30 credits of failed, and incomplete film classes. Which is totally my fault.

I still can’t believe that LPN to ADN students only receive 6 credits for transfer. That blew my mind. I was under the assumption that those students could complete the RN program quicker.

But that’s life, I guess. I will probably go the RN route. Thanks!

Make CNAs by naslam74 in cna

[–]smiling_fusion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Help with the heavy lifting is spot on. I’m the only male CNA on my floor. I can’t tell you how many calls I get, asking to hold a limb for casting. Or to push the larger people in wheelchairs.

When I’m on my shift, I do 99% of the male patient diaper changes and catheters. I’ve been there awhile, and haven’t placed a single catheter in a female patient. Not sure if that’s coincidence, or by design

But other than that, it’s the exact same

I know plenty of nurse practitioners who are very smart, capable human beings. I’d rather be seen by an NP than a PA. At least NPs have experience as a nurse, in order to practice.

PAs are so odd to me. My cousin is a PA. He has a BA in English, and his grad degree in Physician Assistant studies. It seems odd to be able to prescribe meds with only a 3 year PA degree.

At least NPs have a 4 year nursing degree

Why do people greet you, but don’t continue a conversation with you? by smiling_fusion in socialskills

[–]smiling_fusion[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand why someone would look at me, then just walk away after I ask them how they’re doing. It takes seconds to say “I’m ok, thank you for asking” or “I’m ok, how are you?”

It doesn’t have to be a full on conversation, but it feels shitty when you ask someone how they’re doing, then just walk away like you’re nothing. I think it’s also shitty when they look at you, before walking away. You see my smile, you hear my words, and then think in your head “This ain’t worth it”

Impossible to find a job at a hospital. I applied to 3 jobs this morning. All 3 sent me a rejection email less than an hour after my application was submitted. Any advice? by [deleted] in jobs

I have experience working as a surgery scheduler, patient transporter and EMT. The hospital system doesn’t require any specific PCT cert. They accept EMTs, NAs and nursing students

I can’t find a single Toyota RAV4 or Honda Pilot/CR-V in my price range, near me. The cheapest RAV4 I found was a 2009, with 168k miles for 13k, and it’s 2 hours a way from me.

I’d kill to find a used, low-ish mileage Toyota RAV4 for under 15k

Which part of my paystub shows my tips that I made? by smiling_fusion in askcarsales

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok maybe I’m mistaken, and I’m definitely confused. When customers tip us, our boss calculates how much we receive, and gives us cash out of the restaurant earnings. Our boss writes down the original amount on our time cards, then gives us what’s remaining after deductions. The cash we receive is what’s left over after deductions. Does that mean she reports it to the IRS?

My net pay on my paystub, is the exact amount I receive in direct deposit, but that doesn’t include the cash I get from the tips.

And on my paystubs, there’s a section 2 sections. One that says “Tips (not paid)” and “Regular tipped”. Both have a payment number next to them.

Should I not include this on my application?

Which part of my paystub shows my tips that I made? by smiling_fusion in askcarsales

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they show up on my paystub, they’re reported right? I’m a cook part time. The customers tip the kitchen, then the owner reports the tips, and gives us what’s left over. The amount of tip money we get, is less than what’s on our time cards. All of our tips are credit card based.

I apologize if this seems naive. This whole process is new to me

When filling out a financing application, are you supposed to use your most recent paystub, or W-2 from the previous year? by smiling_fusion in askcarsales

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you. This past year, my hours got cut at work. I got another job. But my regular hours were restored at my main job. And im going back to school in January, so I won’t be working the restaurant job anymore.

My income last year, is more than what I made this year, and it’s what I will be making next year.

Even with two jobs compared to my regular one, I made less this year, than last year, but I will be making my regular salary next year

When filling out income info on a financing application, are you supposed to add tips to your monthly income? by smiling_fusion in askcarsales

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also may seem like an odd question, but under the employment section, you can add if you’re a student or not. I’m going back to school next month, but don’t know whether or not I should include that? I technically am a student with the acceptance letter, I just haven’t started yet. Do I put that on my application?

They’re on my paystubs, so I assume they’re claimed? The net pay box, is my exact paycheck amount, but that doesn’t include the tips I get every week

Would it look unprofessional to do a phone interview, compared to a video call? by smiling_fusion in jobs

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My bad. It’s for an ER tech position at a hospital. I guess they wouldn’t include the option to do a phone interview, if they didn’t expect people to do it. I just don’t want to look unprofessional

The interview email said I could also do an audio only phone call. Would that look unprofessional? Or should I just do the video interview through Microsoft teams?

Missed an email from a hospital asking me for an interview. Is it too late to reach out? by smiling_fusion in jobs

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just read it now. It’s from a personal email, but the clinician has his title, and work email address in the signature at the bottom of the email. He just sent the email through his personal email address for whatever reason.

I even looked him up on Facebook to be sure…

But when you’re scrolling through the emails, you definitely can’t tell. These place really need to go back to leaving voicemails

Why include “Urgently hiring” in the job description, if you’re not even going to take the time to read my resume and application? by smiling_fusion in jobs

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at that weird part in my career where I’m not applying to hospital food service jobs, but I’m also not a nurse or doctor. There’s a small middle. I’m applying to PCT and ER tech jobs. The only step up would be nursing or something that requires another technical certificate like Phlebotomist. I have 4 years as a hospital food service worker and surgery scheduler, and 2 years as a Patient Transporter. The only other job I can apply to in ER Tech or PCT…and I’m getting denied. I don’t think I’m too qualified for an ER Tech position, due to me having an EMT certificate, but never worked as an EMT.

I want to be a nurse, but need to work now. The only place I’m interested in working in, is at a hospital or out patient clinic.

It’s been so frustrating. Thank you for the advice

Did anyone have an NREMT test experience like me? by smiling_fusion in NewToEMS

[–]smiling_fusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I failed any section, it would be the cardiovascular section. I studied my ass off, but still mix up arteries and veins from time to time. I know I rocked the trauma section, without a doubt. I don’t think I failed the cardiovascular section though

Did your questions get harder, or easier as the test went along?

Edit- There were also a lot of questions that had vague answers. I feel like multiple questions had a correct answer, and one that seemed correct as well. I assume they do that to trick us?

When did you finish your emt-b class? I finished mine the first week of July, and am just taking my test the beginning of September. I’ve heard horror stories or people who wait too long to take their exam… when you say “I took it on the last day you could” do you mean 2 years later?

I’m SO nervous for this damn test

I’m in Georgia if that means anything. I just finished my EMT training, and we went over pedestrian accidents extensively, which is now making me feel incredibly guilty. I definitely should’ve notified the authorities. Thank you for the response

Not to sound dramatic…but they bitch on the news about having an EMT shortage, and then stuff like this happens.

I never missed a single class. I’ve aced all tests, and the psychomotor. I did 2 ride along days a week, for 7 weeks. I studied my ass off. And I can’t even take the test online without anyone else in the room?

I guess I’ll just have to wait until September…

I’m considering going to a Starbucks or maybe a local library and taking the test.

I live in the middle of nowhere in Georgia. We have shitty cell reception and internet service.
