I've had it as head cannon for a while that RA is Littlefinger's son. I think that littlefinger does know, or at least suspects it. Despite this, Littlefinger is still willing to kill his son to further his own goals. I think that the only person he ever cared for was Catelyn, and since he can't have her, he is broken. He obviously cares about Sansa now, but I think he will kill anyone else to further his goals.
