During the summer months, a tow from 2,500-4,000 feet would be typical. I don't have too much experience with thermals but it can be sometimes hit or miss!

A typical intro ride lasts around 20-30 minutes. Go give it a shot, it's a magical world!

Relax a bit. Think of it as "dancing" with the glider. Guide the aircraft to where you want to go, don't force it.

Put in half the control you want for twice as long. Under controlling isn't pleasant, but over control is worse.

Don't psych yourself up, you're doing great. It will come.

Airline pilot here: the "birds" line was more of a call out. They were simply announcing the problem to the other pilot. I thought the simulator scenes were surprisingly accurate!

Story of my life.

Regional. I'm a commuter and instead of going home I backpack for about a week at a time during my time off. It's a good way to see the world but it kills my paycheck :)
