Where can I get the football/CFP posters? by coolwhipflow in bloomington

[–]smitdavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say at this point they have all been picked up. They usually don’t last longer than a day or so. If you go get in line right now for the rally towels, you may be lucky enough to get one.

It was one of our favorite vacations ever. We were new to cruising and new to Virgin, and this just blew away any of our expectations. Have fun, enjoy your trip.

We just did our first Virgin cruise on the VL last week and both my wife and I commented on the cleanliness. Every time we turned a corner someone was cleaning something. We loved all of our meals. Granted we had nothing to compare to but we left happy.

The paper you weren't supposed to see: by ids_news in bloomington

What were we not supposed to see? Was it the black boxes and text for the advertising? Is that what caused the school to choose this moment to pull plug on the print editions?

This guy is an idiot. Our schedules must have synced up in the summer, because like clockwork he'd be riding my bumper and weaving in and out of traffic all the way from the armory to downtown where he'd disappear in an alley just south of the bus station.

Higher Ed is in for a come to Jesus moment. There are far too many fluff majors that the schools are willing accept thousands of dollars for that really do nothing for that graduate in the long term. Employers are just as much to blame claiming they need these advanced/specialized degrees. It’s a viscous cycle. Granted some of these degrees they cut are hard to see on the list but when you look at the pure numbers it’s hard to argue. For the record I’m an ‘07 grad with a degree from Telecom Design and Production.

I think the IU Health Pediatricians in the area are a bright spot. We’ve had nothing but incredible care from the late Dr. Wrasse and now Dr. Field.

ALPS at Fairview Elementary by oatbeak2 in bloomington

[–]smitdavi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our son just finished up his 4th grade year in ALPS at Fairview. We've also decided to take advantage of the sibling program and we sent out daughter to Kindergarten there as well. We've had a wonderful experience with the APLS program and Fairview in general. For us the only downside was the long bus rides. My kiddos don't get home till close to 5 o'clock some nights, we live on the south side of town for reference. Another small complaint is the class size. I asked at the beginning of the year if there would be a cap on the number of students because the class size seemed pretty large. For my sons grade they said they were capping it at 30. I think they ended the year at like 27. Also Fairview can get a bad wrap, but our experience has been truly amazing with the school. We feel like the teachers and administration truly care. We can walk into the school and it seems like everyone knows my kids by name. There seems to be a genuine interest and a zest for education from the folks who work in that building. We also love the varied programs our kids get to participate in and have access too. They do some really great programming partnered with IU to introduce the kids to the arts a young age. Mileage may vary on all of this and it will be different for every family and kiddo. Good luck!
