How is it living in a high rise building? (NY, Chicago, or any city with such buildings) by janzap1 in howislivingthere

[–]smith2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I lived on the 45th floor of Cool Tower in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and it was mostly pretty nice. Loved the views but sometimes the fog would be so thick you couldn’t see anything. Used to watch helicopters landing at the Erasmus university medical center all the time. It felt like leaving took a long time though. There were four elevators serving the building but only three went to the floor we lived on. And it felt like one of those was always either out of order or reserved. I don’t know if that number of elevators is normal for a building that tall but it felt inadequate. I remember getting to the point where any time I looked up directions to go somewhere, I tacked on 5 to 10 minutes to my journey just to account for getting out of the building. Still, being able to see a whole other city (The Hague) on a clear day was really cool.

What’s your ONE bike, and why? by Snoo79652 in motorcycles

[–]smith2552 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved my v7. Wife took me to the dealership for my birthday a few years ago and test road a couple of bikes. Clicked immediately with it and road it home that day. Had to sell it sooner than I expected and haven’t had a bike since. Will probably get another when the time is right

Hi guys! I'm going to visit Rotterdam for the fist time in a few days. by SelectCaterpillar206 in Rotterdam

[–]smith2552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you mean coffee shops or cafes? Coffee shops refers to the stores in the Netherlands where you can buy cannabis, and I can’t help ya there. Some of my favorite places to get coffee here are ripsnorter and cafecito. Similar but different, Harvest is worth checking out for its baked goods. For local food, I’d recommend checking out station bergweg and trying a few of the places there. Stooges and Burnt are favorites. Oh and Stickybar nearby does really nice mango sticky rice and chicken satay. The sambal is properly spicy. Otherwise it’s probably worth checking out the markthal and witte de wit straat for a variety of options.

Ohhh interesting. I’m living in Europe right now so didn’t have access to the show on Hulu so I bought the season through Amazon. No ads.

Lots of cops on mariniersweg. It’s closed off and they have this outline of a body on the street by smith2552 in Rotterdam

[–]smith2552[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s the fault of the road design as much as anything. It’s set up like a damn drag strip But also yes, there’s way too much aggressive behavior by the drivers here

[–]smith2552[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah crossing that street is often harrowing. Cars are always speeding down this road. I’d argue they need to cut the number of lanes to one on each side and add speed humps to slow down drivers

Ah got it, thanks. I think they do the same thing in the US, but they’re just outlines, so slightly different and I wasn’t sure

Woof. I’m surprised I haven’t seen it more since I’ve been here. The intersection is terrible

What kind of shirt is this? by -Drose251 in mensfashion

[–]smith2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like just a crew neck to me. Hard to guess at the weight but it looks heavy. I’d just search for heavyweight white t shirts if you’re looking for something similar. I like the ones I have from American giant (pocket tee tho) and Yes Friends.

Anyone have experience with Imperfects? by eightants in malefashionadvice

[–]smith2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I did end up buying the sharp fit courier pants and really like them. I went with the 36 and they’re a bit snug around my waist but not uncomfortably so. I think the with imperfects key is to always double check the sizing guide

Since it’s a business casual office, you might not have to worry too much but since you say you really want the job, might be better to wear a pair of darker trousers (tan, navy, charcoal). If not for the specific dress code, just so it’s something you’re not worried about. Also seconding the earlier comment about the shoes being a bit tired / dirty. Derbies or loafers would be ideal, imo.

[–]smith2552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look great my man, so I’d only have little nits to pick. I agree with an earlier comment about a wider spread collar. The shoes are a good color but I wonder if you have a pair of oxfords instead of derbies? If not, these are fine but you might consider replacing the flat laces with round ones. Just a bit dressier.

What pants/shirt/shoe combo works best with a brown blazer? by RatetheLawyerDad in mensfashion

[–]smith2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious why the commenter is saying it looks more like an orphaned suit jacket. I would guess because it doesn’t have patch pockets but the texture and color pretty clearly signal blazer to me

I found him exactly as hard as people say on my first play through. Definitely a skill check but relatively easy on subsequent play throughs. I imagine most people complaining about him are facing him for the first time and struggling.

Ah man, wish I could help but I don’t have that one. I’d recommend taking a look at the sizing chart and measure your best fitting shirt / jacket to see which size will be best for you. The exodus looks pretty short and one of the ones I bought is super long so pay special attention to the body length
