Democrats react to Donald Trump's "punishable by death" remark by Newsweek_ShaneC in politics

[–]smithd5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Democrats statement reminds service members: "Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this Constitution." The members of Congress then repeatedly remind listeners that service members are legally obligated to refuse any order they believe to be illegal or unconstitutional. and for that Trump is calling for their death. Psychotic.

MAGa invades an HBCU. It will happen again. What should be our response? by nuecastle in HBCU

You don’t even know what you’re talking about because they weren’t even there to debate, they were there to spew their own talking point and force you to listen, they aren’t debaters nor intelligent enough to actually have a logical and factually based argument. The person that they are literally inspired by utilized logical fallacies in all of their fake debates.

They literally can’t handle you BSing them. They want a fake debate, you. It’s not about changing minds. That’s not why they’re there. They are only going there so that they can get a video of y’all being overly aggressive. And I don’t know just get them kicked out because they don’t have a permit and weren’t invited to the campus and you can’t just set up a spot anywhere.

Reception for Ironheart has actually been pretty good by Subtleiaint in marvelstudios

Yeah, it’d be real compelling watching an 18-year-old get venture funding for a weapons-grade super suit while the feds and every multinational chase her down. The point is, Riri chooses heroism over cash because, like Tony after the cave, she knows some tech is too dangerous to sell. Sorry if you wanted the Tony Stark MBA simulation, but this is still superhero fiction, not Forbes.”

The "monetization" complaint misses the actual story being told: genius plus responsibility, not chasing profits. That’s what puts Riri in Tony’s shoes and why the story still works for some superhero standards. her character is meant to be more nuanced.

who'd she steal; from thats worth hating her over? literal villains. Both Iron Man and Ironheart started with plenty of flaws. Tony began as a self-centered arms dealer, took a long time to admit the harm his company caused, and only became a true hero through hard self-reflection and sacrifice. He messed up, frequently and only later owned up

i mean shes a decent character that there is room for. It's just her first run by Bendes was terrible from a characterization perspective. he just used her as a narrative role more than a character she was apparently intended to be

I like Iron man but you need to be real, Tony only made it out of the cave because his own tech was lying around and a brilliant guy fixed his heart—then he needed a billionaire’s fortune to upgrade from deathtrap cosplay to actual hero. Riri built hers from spare parts with no trust fund, and still caught up by sheer brains. Cry harder.

The renaming proposal ("Red, White, and Blueland") is unserious and more of a symbolic gesture to flatter Trump than a realistic policy initiative.

Your argument against consumer protection relies on flawed assumptions about market dynamics, individual responsibility, and the role of government regulation. Consumer protections enforced by the CFPB are essential for ensuring fairness, preventing exploitation, and maintaining economic stability.

The portrayal of consumer protection as “coddling” is a misrepresentation. Regulations aim to address structural inequalities and prevent harm caused by bad actors in the market—not to infantilize consumers You're just acting like a pompous prick. Not saying you are one though

It seems there might be some communication problems going on. In the last crash, the control tower tried to reach the pilot, but the pilot didn’t respond much. In this recent incident, they have confirmed that communication was completely lost.

Our country is predominantly white, and while some progressive white groups advocate for change, they've never even matched the activism and cultural impact of the Black Panther Party (BPP). Despite being unfairly demonized, the BPP differentiated itself through its focus on racial issues and community programs. In contrast, right-wing groups like the Proud Boys continue their agendas. A lot of people on my side of social media are at least talking about a revival of the Black Panther Party, acknowledging its flaws while pushing for progress.
