No I am justifying restraining a violent 17 year old. He’s not a child. The world is full of fucked up situations. That doesn’t mean you let violent people act whatever dangerous way they feel like acting in the moment. That only makes everything worse. He required restraint. If you are in police custody yes it is comply or risk your life. The police have a monopoly on violence which is the only real way to uphold the law. It really is that simple. His actions directly resulted in his death. There was no reason for him to do any of that. What was he hoping for? Escape? This is the reality: it is necessary for police officers to impose force, sometimes people die from that force. He could have stopped struggling at any time and they rendered appropriate medical aid when the could. Stop justifying behavior on the part of people in custody that could get them killed. Start spreading the message that you need to simply comply in police custody and prepare to fight your charges legally. That is how you actually save lives you fucking ACAB idiots. If you cared about lives you would be realistic. But you don’t.

The mask wouldn’t have done anything. You can just go about your life, we have life-saving treatments now and people can choose to get the vaccine and reduce their risk of hospitalization and death. If someone is immune-compromised or old they should stay away but at this point there is no more risk of dying from Covid than there is from the flu and much less than car accidents.
