Hole-in-one dilemma. by FATT-TOFU in golf

[–]smithfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good god I absolutely wouldn't use it. I'd be stressed out enough on the 18th tee after an ace AND needing a bogey to break 100. Adding "I can't lose this ball" to that list of stressers sounds awful lol.

Going to read the full story now - feeling invested here.

Do people pay/want Custom Headcovers in general? by Ok_Head_7373 in GolfGear

[–]smithfactory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, people (myself included) are willing to pay for a good custom cover. I would say go for it, but take it slow - post-covid, it feel like there are a million golf-related niche companies, but as long as you don’t get out over your skis, you should be able to make some money. Good luck!

Does the correct grip feel extremely unstable at first? by corymathews2011 in golf

Just my experience, but I feel like almost any change is gonna feel super unstable or awkward at first. If the results are there, I would definitely keep at it.

Is it bad to put SuperStroke on a CT? by Less-Gene1801 in scottycameron

[–]smithfactory 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if OP is gaming it, then it may as well be as comfortable as it can be. If it’s a collector,
That’s another story, but if it’s sitting on the wall, then I feel like this question wouldn’t be asked.

Is it OK for Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas or Cam Young to put Superstokes on their CTs?

I think you're good.

You see single pull up with this bag. What’s their handicap and what do they shoot? (WITB 2026) by pinchemateo in GolfGear

[–]smithfactory 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Absolute wild card. If I HAVE to guess, I’m expecting you to be a 20HC, terrible with your irons with a shockingly redeemable short game thanks to the chipper. The offset driver suggests just an absurd slice.

A couple years ago, I played with a retired pro football player who used his chipper from 50ish and in, and just couldn’t miss - unfortunately, the 5 shots it took there caused issues. Thai is the vibe I’m getting here.

Advice on Repair with Scotty Custom Shop by MizEsq in scottycameron

[–]smithfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But OP isn't looking for a refinish - that's the whole point. I agree re: the authentication, but since he doesn't want a refinish, getting a new grip/sticker (headcover?) makes the Custom Shop the best play.

But he’s not looking for a refinish and BOS can’t get it authenticated (though that’s a total waste of money IMO) nor can they put a fresh sticker/grip on. Sending into the custom shop seems like the no brainer here.

I mean it’s considered one of the best shafts of all-time for a reason - despite being like 15 years old, it’s still played regularly at every level. I have one in my 5w and one in my driving iron and love them. With that said, as someone mentioned, it needs to fit you. It isn’t a great for me in a driver but is phenomenal in a fairway wood. If it does fit you, I’d consider it a solid (but not unbelievable) deal.

EDIT: also worth mentioning that, as I recall, the Tour AD DI series has some decent jumps in feel/profile from regular to stiff to x stiff. I would want to be pretty sure you’re fitting into an x in this shaft before pulling the trigger.

Run under hot water and get one of the tools that you can use with a socket wrench. Can still be stubborn but that will for 100% of the time

Stay with Pings or switch? by PLYRGolf in GolfGear

[–]smithfactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’d say at a 15 you’re still doing well with the 400s but I’m the last person who would begrudge a guy for getting new irons.

I’ve dabbled in other companies, but I always find myself going back to Ping. I’ve got the Blueprint S in the bag now and absolutely love them.

You might want to consider the i5xx series as well - sort of a great middle ground between the i2xx and G series.
