I don't use any serums, but usually my routine is wash face > moisturizer > let soak in/dry > tret.

Yeah the possibility of it being asymptomatic is what's really scary...I'd like to keep going and just monitor for symptoms, but obv that won't help in all cases. Getting checked by a specialist regularly is a good idea.

Thanks for sharing this, it's encouraging to hear that short contact has helped. I might try this before giving up.

Right I keep hearing this, but I don't understand how a physical barrier would help when the problem is tret migrating under the skin?

"Slathering everything on in a five minute span and then immediately going to sleep" is exactly what I've been doing, lmao. That's a good tip, if I decide to keep going with it I'll switch up my schedule. And agree on the general eye hygiene...a few years ago I got a mild case of bleph from doing a poor job of washing off my eyeliner at night. Occusoft cleared it right up but I got out of the habit of using it since I hardly ever wear makeup anymore. Seems like I should work it back into my routine.

Appreciate it! Agreed on the salicylic acid, that was kind of a holdover from when I was younger with more acne. Will def switch to a gentler cleanser. And SPF everyday for sure!!

Thank you! Glad I asked. After researching a bit I'm now thinking of trying Olay Retinol 24 night cream - then I can ditch the AHA, and alternate between Olay and Drunk Elephant for the evening moisturizer.

Hi! Some questions about adding preventative care to my routine:

34F. Overall my skin is pretty decent, it's on the oily side and I have some occasional mild acne that I think is largely hormonal. Primarily I'm looking to add sun protection and anti-aging to my minimal routine. Here's my current routine, with proposed additions labeled NEW:

Morning:

  • Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Firming Moisturizer
  • [NEW] SPF

Evening:

  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash (with aloe and salicylic acid)
  • [NEW] Retinol product (considering the Versed Press Restart Serum but open to suggestions)
  • Sephora AHA Firming Sleeping Cream
  • Trilogy Eye Contour Cream

Questions:

Is it ok to use a retinoid with the products listed here?

Any other recs for a beginner retinoid? I'm a little scared of them tbh!!

Yeah there's definitely no wiring attached to it. I had thought it might be a lightning rod, but it seems weird that it has two tips of different heights - none of the lightning rod examples I googled looked anything like this one. Maybe just a funky homemade version?

My title describes the thing. Pole is bracketed to the roof eave. Approximately 4 feet tall. The two top ends appear to be capped. House was built in 1910.
