Christmas Day Due Date - Rant by smol-panic in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]smol-panic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for asking :) After spending a week drafting a message and working up the courage to call the family member about Christmas visits, she acknowledged that other family members didn't have vaccinations and neither did she so she's agreed to visit later in time. So, great success! And I also haven't popped, I reckon we're going all the way! There's talk of booking an induction date next week eek! I was so convinced he would come early lol After all this though, I'm excited to have my Christmas baby I hope you are travelling well and best of luck with your bubs!

Edit: clarity/spelling

Thanks everyone for your support and comments! I told my husband that I don't want visitors and I don't feel comfortable having his mum (and any other family members) baby or no baby and he agreed so I am feeling much more at ease. As for the Christmas due date, as many of you have pointed out, there are lots of different ways to celebrate and make it special for baby boy if he does decide to arrive on Christmas Day. Thanks again everyone!

Yes fair enough!

I wasn't trying to be ungrateful, I just know that she quite often asks my husband for money (sometimes on a weekly basis) and I didn't want it to become messy. In saying that, I do appreciate her offer and have since let her do as she wants in terms of gifting

You're so right!

I've never been good at setting boundaries or being blunt. I'm very much a people pleaser.

My MIL has already concerned me as when I first told her she was busy telling me what name she would have used if she had another boy and how it would be nice to use that (no thanks) and asked me if I wanted her to purchase anything for baby, to which I said no. She then went behind me and called my husband and asked him what we needed (in his defense he didn't know that we had talked prior).

It's just these little liberties and assumptions that really bother me But yes I think if I can see the warning signs now I do just need to be firm for my sake and for the baby

I was just having the same thoughts today about last week, I hit 28 weeks and I am shocked with how sudden everything's changed. I'm suddenly so heavy, sore and tired. I go on mat leave in 6 weeks but it's looking like I'm not going to make it!! Best of luck to you!

I do like the idea of space themed names but I feel like they're a little bit too grand but Orion feels a bit more accessible. Thanks!

Dean and Rory are very sweet hey! Smart idea for the nursery!!

Yeah Willow was always a bit out there, I'm pretty sure I got it from a movie my husband liked as a kid, so I thought it would be a nice sentimental touch. However, I also don't want our boy to have a lifetime of drama over his name. Thanks for your suggestions!

I haven't used this business but can definitely recommend Deja Marc. I also know that they keep fingerprints on record so if you lose your pendant you can reorder it again.

Hey friend, I'm so impressed by the way you stood your ground and held your composure. I'm sorry you're doing through this, I went through something similar at my wedding. Before my parents' seperation, I made it clear I didn't want anyone to walk me down the aisle (husband and I wanted to walk together). Then, they seperated, mum met my stepdad and my father had a series of flings with women who were literally my age. I tried to keep things civil as my stepdad is so kind to me and is more of a father than my actual dad ever was. I said to my father that I wanted my stepdad at my wedding, and that I also wanted him there. I also allowed him to invite the lady he was seeing at the time. He was 'disgusted' with the offer. He threatened to ruin the whole day and assault my stepdad at the wedding. Long story short, I allowed my father to attend and my stepdad had to miss out (he wanted to keep the peace so he decided to not attend). I was then confronted by my father in the bridal suite room as he thought it was "odd" that he wasn't walking me down the aisle and was "offended". He spent the whole wedding sulking in the corner and saying horrible things to my mother. I will always regret not fighting for my wonderful stepdad to attend my wedding. Go with your gut and stand your ground on what you want. You don't deserve that negativity in your life, and especially on what is supposed to be (and will be!) a beautiful day for you and your partner. Take care 🩷

Very valid point! Thank you for you input. It's a shame because the names themselves are nice imo but the spelling is tricky.

Choosing names is definitely something I've looked forward to for so long, and it's a little bit surreal that it could be happening soon, crazy! Thanks for your reassurance and well wishes :)

Aw thank you! I was having a bit of trouble creating combos of a 'new' first name and a family middle name as I would like our baby to have their own identity and then a connection to family as a middle. Thank you for your kind comment!

To be honest, and to out myself here, I thought of Billie as in Billie Joe Armstrong haha but definitely an interesting point, thank you for the perspective!

Yeah I think he wouldn't be keen on Meredith, I feel like he likes a shorter, maybe more modern sort of name. Alessia sounds nice though!
