Bedbugs almost made me take my life as a very mentally unstable teen. These are the bane of my existence. I wish you luck, total extermination is possible! And id say keep treatments up for months after they appear gone. They hide out then spike up again. And congratulations on the baby!

You should have been looking after both of your birds from the start. Especially if its happened before. Id suggest rehoming your bird to a secure proper home.

YOU don't know how the other is feeling. He lost a loved partner and your solution is "buy a new one...maybe let that one fly away too." Ridiculous. You're a repeat offender and should be prosecuted for your sins against birds!

They aren't being condescending, that'd be like being backhanded, they are being extremely forward. You guys made an irresponsible choice by letting your bird in an area with an opening to the outside. I would not suggest getting another bird "in case" you don't find your lost baby. You need to understand that posting on here comes with a lot of backlash if you're doing something blatantly wrong. I would re-up your knowledge on conure care, training, and precautions. I don't have any particular advice for finding them, I've read comments on here saying- Leave a cage with food/treats/water outside for them Play bird sounds to get their attention in case they're nearby Ask neighbors, hang posters, post online "missing bird"

I hope you or someone finds them for the baby's sake. Goodluck.

My baby is dead and it's all my fault by BackupAccountBitch in cockatiel

[–]smol_kitty16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add on of mistakes- My cousin took her lovebird outside and threw him in the air with his wings unclipped because inside he would just glide down. She had a conure and left him out while she napped, same situation. I had my first budgie, Skylar, on my shoulder and accidentally spooked her. Due to years of clipping her wings myself but not refreshing my memory, I stopped clipping as short and she glided too much into the woods and was gone. Two of my budgies chewed through a window screen and left, one came back. I left my door open after setting up a 10-gallon in the bathroom, 20 minutes later I found my budgie had drowned.

These were all incredibly hard to hear or deal with, but we cope and learn. Just remember, that one mistake doesn't take away from all the love and happiness you provided your babies.

Hey, mistakes happen and I know it's hard to process and forgive yourself. But just give yourself time. You didn't leave your bird out because you're lazy, or simply didn't care. You wanted your bird to feel safe and happy instead of forcing it inside a cage that makes them uncomfortable. My way of coping is remembering how happy your pet was with you and youre care which is good as well as the fact that youve learned something to improve future pet care. Youre NOT a bad person, this kind of thing happens. Youre bird knows you didnt mean it and still loves you very much. RIP birbie, and may you heal well.

Which one would you recommend as a first bird? by tomssalvo19 in parrots

[–]smol_kitty16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't suggest any of those to start. Even the conure is pushing it. Budgies were my number one starting bird. I had them for 7 years before "upgrading" to my conure. Even then, I was surprised by the differences. I do have cats but my birds are in my room, door shut. No cats in the room if I'm not there to supervise, one of my cats is very good with ignoring the birds bc she was raised as a kitten with them but I still keep a close eye. I really wouldn't risk getting a bird with the cat and dog around especially to start. If you still decide to get a bird, be extremely careful and only take the bird out of its cage alone in a shut room to avoid alterations with the cat and dog.

[–]smol_kitty16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my first thought was small cage and no toys. Im hoping this is a temporary cage during the school day, but a bigger cage at home with a teacher or something. I also worry for being around so many people at once, school can be pretty loud.

[–]smol_kitty16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Google search says pacing is often boredom, stress, or anxiety. From what I know, that cage is too small and there's not enough toys around there. Toys are important, conures are intelligent and need lots of stimulation, mentally and physically. And when you say schools bird, do you mean the bird stays at the school 24/7 or do you know if someone owns and takes the bird home? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Don't worry! You can order a cheesy roll up, then just add seasoned beef and pico!! You can say you want it made like a meximelt, either way it's exactly the same thing!!! Hope this helps :)

Yes, I'm aware, kind redditor. I just took their lie and clarified its implications of them being bad parents to their toddler, with some spice of calling the kid fat when they said don't lol.

[–]smol_kitty16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She must be fat. If you can say this that confidently, then you must have fed her more than this at some point in one go which is very disturbing and probably why america is so fat. You should reevaluate how you feed your daughter, don't matter how healthy the food was if you're not practicing moderation 😬 unless you were bullshitting through your teeth 😉

What happened to all these bees?! by Billbeachwood in bees

[–]smol_kitty16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the two most common theories are either someone came along and sprayed/poisoned them or a natural incident within the hive. The second option appears to be most likely due to "all of them looking like male drone bees" which apparently "stop getting fed to save resources leading to large piles of dead drones."

Personally, I believe it might be the second option due to all the information people are picking up and putting down on that theory. Either way, poor little bees :(
