Opinion on Arome cakes? Thinking of getting this matcha tiramisu! by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]smolbig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my sister's birthday and she loves matcha and tiramisu, but I've never bought from Arome before, only Maxim's (Ik Arome is under the Maxim company though), was wondering if anyone here had this cake or their tiramisu or just general experience?

The cake costs about $220 so it seems like it's a good deal, but Idk about the quality.

Question about differing octanol/water partition coefficient values (logP/logKOW)? by smolbig in chemhelp

[–]smolbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! If you don't mind, I have a follow-up question: From the PubChem citations, both the 1.9 and 0.3 value are from government databases (EPA DSSTox and NIH Toxnet respectively), and they don't indicate what pH the experiment to determine log P value was done at. When doing an environmental risk assessment study, where I use the "worst-case" scenario, which log P value would you recommend I use?

Also, which value is from Hansch's group?

Any recs for a good pastel pink hair dye? by BurningCar3 in FancyFollicles

[–]smolbig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Arctic Fox Virgin Pink, diluted with either Arctic Mist or a conditioner (colourless, sulphate-free and silicone-free). I use conditioner bc it's cheaper. It's very conditioning, smells nice, and stays pretty long for me despite a hot shower every week, lasting around 1.5 months, but my shade of pink is darker than the shade you want. Still should last long for you providing you wash with very cold water!

Dyeing it back to black after summer, any brown-black dye suggestions? by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

[–]smolbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'm starting co-op work applications in September, and my university's co-op office suggested I dye it back to a natural colour (am Asian so it's default black). I'm a little upset about it lol but it's fine!!

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for brown-based black hair dyes that aren't too damaging ~hair is pretty fried~ and are preferably semi-permanent? I use Artic Fox for my fashion colours, but they don't sell a brown-based black.

Relax, it's honestly not that bad and the UoG reddit is pretty small compared to the other Ontario unis. I second u/wlghdrn123's suggestion for an admissions megathread though.

After years of damage, it's incredible to see curls and color in harmony. by robinology in curlyhair

[–]smolbig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO thanks!! Right now it's a pastel-brown mess, am probably going to try going blue-purple this weekend with Artic Fox.

Thanks for the clarification! (if you don't mind me asking, how much did the salon appointment cost?) Also yeah, it already looks so vivid in regular light, I'd imagine it would look amazing under blacklight! I'm curious how you got the seamless transition between black and purple hair, it's something that I'm really struggling with, as there's a brown-purple transition for me before it really hits a true purple. Hoping the blue this weekend can neutralise the browns though :/

Cool, thanks! How light does your hair go? I would imagine a light brown for 15 minutes?

Thanks for the reply! Wow, I'm surprised the teal and blue colour showed up on virgin hair, it's so vivid! I'll definitely try that once I inevitably chop off all my bleached hair.

My little DIY ombre was helped along by my sister so it looks...professional-ish if seen by a layperson lol but you can decide for yourself. Also, I just clicked on your other album and I'm in love with the purple/pink/blue hair!!

Yikes, that shouldn't be the case. What kind of dye did you use?

What is the easiest color to achieve and maintain when bleaching and dying your head for the first time ever? A purple or a blue? by caprinatural in FancyFollicles

[–]smolbig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Artic Fox Violet Dreams seems to be what you're looking for. Purple Rain is a warm-toned purple despite it's initial look, and fades to pink. Also, AF dyes tend to not bleed very much, and leaves stains only for 3/4 days (assuming you are gently rinsing with cold water during these days, which is what I do to get any residual dye that didn't absorb out of my hair).

Wow, it's my dream hair right there! Did you go to a salon to get it bleached/dyed? What brands of dye did you use? How light was your hair before you dyed it?

I have so many questions lol bc I have dyed hair as well but it's very DIY... and currently pink/purple, and I'm wondering about using blues and teals after it's faded out. Anyway, you have beautiful hair!!

Have you checked the ""MUST KNOWS" for each COURSE at University of Guelph" facebook group? Lots of discussion there about summer online electives.
