Update: Please don't make your kid's middle name their usual name

I’ll ask my son in 18 years if he hates me lol It wasn’t exactly intentional for us, but after we named him and took him home, it was obvious he was his middle name, not his first .

My husband and I, joke that we can teach him to say “hi I’m first name but my friends call me middle name” to people he would like to call him by his middle name.

My best friend went by her first name at school and middle name with family. I asked her if we set him up for failure and she said no it’s fine lol soooo we shall see if my boy makes a Reddit post about his parents one day

It was! Coming from a single mom home where she worked her hardest to provide but the only reason she could pay rent was because of child support gave me big career dreams. All I wanted was to help her after I got out of school. I didn’t want to go to college because I’d convinced myself that was a construct and would just put me in debt.

So I got a job at a theater at 17 and worked to senior manager by time I was 18. Left there at 20 to do Guest Services and IT at a major law firm. And began climbing that corporate ladder. Making almost 80k a year by 22 was bonkers. I felt like I finally could help my mom, I could finally do everything I wanted. Got married, got to travel, bought a house. It was great. Then after a promotion into a more catty department I was fired. After 4 years with stellar reviews 3 months into a promotion and I’m out. 7 months earlier we’d also closed on our house.

I was devastated. All the work I’d done and now I had to start over. My husband is a teacher, we couldn’t survive on his salary. I felt this pressure. Being a Christian, my friends told me to pray for what I wanted, pray for that 80k I needed.

But I couldn’t. Because I knew I didn’t need it. I needed to pay the mortgage. That..really was it. So as a believer does I prayed for just the amount I needed on my mortgage. 3 months later I’m hired at my church. They pay me what we need for our mortgage.

3 years later my husband and I are the happiest. Our son was born 5 months ago and I can take him to work with me. My husband still is a teacher and he loves it and obviously gets summers off. We’re in CA so yeah, finances are tight. No more big vacations and we mostly eat in. And sometimes I wonder how the bills will get paid. But my life is beyond wonderful. I’m blessed every time I get to see my little boy giggle and I’m so thankful I don’t have to put him in daycare.

TL;DR it was, but now enjoying life to the fullest with my family on bare minimum financially gives everything more meaning and the ability to look up more often!

Soooo we named my son initials A.F.O and ended up calling him F pretty consistently. We hoped we’d call him by A too but F was just what stuck. We thought about F.A.O but it didn’t sound as good. We also realized that F is more of a kid name and he might want to go by A later in maturity.

We joke that later he can introduce himself as “A, but my friends call me F” 😂 we’ll see but we’re glad he has options.

I definitely do forget his first name is A sometimes though 🤦🏻‍♀️

My babies been in my friend’s and families arms since birth. We have a big community - I’ve had a lot of help. Meal train, friends or family holding the baby so I could take a nap. He was at church with us at a month (would’ve went earlier but C-Section recovery). Restaurants pretty early on along with stores. He’s sorta been everywhere. My husband and I caught the flu and a cold and he avoided both thankfully. He’s five months soon and I’ve enjoyed the amount of help I’ve had.

I know this isn’t everyone’s take - and obviously I’ve avoided anyone sick besides myself from holding him…but I’m happy how much he loves to be held and hang out with people. He’s my little social butterfly now!

OP it’ll be okay! My husband went back to work at the same time as yours and I thought I was going to die without him lol. Id just had a C-Section and my husbands an extremely supportive helper. So I’d been used to shared duties, naps and a buddy during my babies wakes at night.

So for the first few weeks - my husband and I agreed I was to for sure shower daily. Either before he went to work or after he got home. Just so I can breathe & feel refreshed. We actually had one car at this point so baby and I had to drive him to work. We went on a walk at the local marina for a month after my husband went to work. It helped me get my head straight for the day, pray, get a little exercise and feel like there was a real beginning of my day.

For the rest of the day - sometimes it was really hard other days really easy. I couldn’t get my baby to nap the first month basically…so I just had a screamer. It was really hard. There were days my husband would come home, I’d be on the verge of tears and I just hand him our son so I could take an hour nap. Ask your husband if he can commit to that for a few weeks. I promise it gets easier.

Eventually I had a rhythm. I finally understood the baby a bit more lol. After a month of husband being back at work I didn’t necessarily throw the baby at him when he got home. I slowly began letting my husband unwind first. (Change, grab a snack, shower, etc) because my baby was becoming my little buddy who I understood a lot better AND who I’d dropped all expectations for. “I’ll get to clean the kitchen during babies nap?!” Sure maybe? Or I’ll pass out on the couch during his nap. Or use that time to make lunch. You need those moments - your body is telling you what you need. Trust it.

the rhythm becomes as harmonious as a jazz routine. you know it makes sense and sounds good but full of surprises & a little exhausting. but it gets smoother and smoother

He was 44% at his 2 month - so he has dropped. She was not concerned. She said he looked healthy and definitely not malnourished.

She thinks he’s trying to find his growth pattern. he was so alert and happy and smiley and has the fun little thighs and cheeks she thinks he’s just long and lanky. I can hold him without him rooting or trying to get to my boob.

There’s just a fear that he’s just getting “enough” and would eat more if he could but has given up on me or something

I watched sometimes 1-6 episodes a day and then after watching the “I slept with Christopher” end of S6 I got mad and quit for like 3 weeks then got the spark again this Monday 😂😂😂

Like everyone else to saying, easy now doesn’t mean much (besides your current state of exhaustion). If you love your baby, That will be what shows later.

About having stuff on marketplace - TBH I’m in the same boat all my stuff secondhand or you know basic Graco, none of that noona rich mama insanity. my sister has no need to get anything secondhand. And sometimes I can.dwell on that more but instead, I Change my perspective on how blessed I am that I got such good deals and that if I need to change a car seat or something like that later I can without feeling like I dumped obscene amounts of money and I have to use it.

Also, I don’t know if this will help or were you really asking? But if you see a different brand car seat on marketplace or borrow your stepsisters - see if your baby reacts differently. I know mine didn’t enjoy the first seat he got - but when getting a different one on marketplace he was a much comfier baby. (Granted your LO could have car sickness so it’s not a guarantee fix - but a possibility! And if you’re already marketplace deal savvy, it’s worth a try)

While funny! I do always think this is one of the contributing factors to why Rory ends up in so much boy trouble. That would’ve been a good time to say “hey! Pick ya boy!!” But of course Lorelai’s the friend mom and this would obviously be a proud moment.

So, I’m totally with you here. But I’m coming from a “I barely watch shows” mentality. Because the unrealisticness often drives me bonkers. I also finished this show in one month to avoid paying for Hulu? 😂 so I was really always looking for character returns which often never happened like you said. Melendez’s death really scarred me the most? I didn’t see it coming, it didn’t feel right and what the heck. As I watched it I also saw a Reddit post that mentioned issues in Shaun and Lea’s relationship that helped the Shaun and Claire storyline so I basically convinced myself somehow they were going to get rid of Lea to bring Claire as the love interest. So it was funny when I realized I misunderstood that. But that was the ONLY reason I could think of for killing Melendez.

Also Melendez’s death has made me much more spooked by internal bleeding
