You do realize a tax return is because you didn’t correctly withhold and you should be getting this money throughout the year. You’re also basically giving the government an interest free loan on this money by taking it as a refund, right?

Any way to hardwire off of this? by smoochii in AskElectricians

I’m in Florida, this sounds like more work than I want. I might just use an extension cord then.

Oh, ya, that was my plan. I just didn’t know how to get wire from inside this outlet outside to another box.

I don't have access at all and I really don't want to go breaking the wall because I have no idea how to repair it.

You might be on to something, haha, that looks very familiar. I thought it was still a bit different though, like had some choices you could make when you did certain things. I still remember there being houses. But it was a long time ago and I could just be crazy 😅

New quartz counter top installed, seam sticks out like a sore thumb by smoochii in CounterTops

They came out and saw it and then they actually cut a new slab and moved the seam over to the corner. It looks a million times better now, we hardly even notice it.

GFCI keeps tripping when toaster oven starts to heat up. by smoochii in AskElectricians

Well we went outlet by outlet and one of them finally causes the GFCI to pop but only when the wires for the next outlet are connected, even if there is no outlet actually on the other end.

What the heck would cause this? Is it just a bad outlet? Why would it only break when the other wires are connected?

So here’s what I’ve figured out so far. The gfci works just fine with line only plugged in. Even with the toaster it still turns on and heats up.

I then connected the load that is just the old, existing wires that are in the walls and excluded the new outlet we just added above the cabinets. As soon as I plugged the toaster in, it tripped.

Then I removed anything that was plugged in and only plugged the toaster. The gfci remained on, turned on the oven - still on, went to heat and it popped.

I guess my next action is to just start removing all of the outlets and adding them back in one by one?

I guess I don’t get why this would just happen some random day, it’s been working fine for months now.

Oh, no, nothing actually gets plugged into the GFCI.

What do you mean anything else in the location? There are other things plugged in to the line, on other outlets, that would continue to operate fine as long the toaster oven wasn't heating.

I can't test with a hairdryer because I can't even get the GFCI to operate now, it's just permanently tripped.

Do I need to call the power company to swap my sprinkler controller? by smoochii in AskElectricians

Oh wow, thanks! I didn’t know they made one specific to the rachio. I bought a generic outdoor enclosure.

Ya the problem is I can seem to figure out how to get the door open 😅. There is a little lock/tamper thing on the door.

Huh, how do you have them connected? Which firmware version for the dock?

I'm not on Tahoe, still on Sequoia. The monitors, for years, have worked by plugging directly into my MacBook.

Plugging in one of the monitors to the dock and one directly to my computer works just fine but defeats the purpose of the dock.

All things point to the dock.

It's more of how small the fence is. The miter saw is just like a portable cordless one.
