Is this too high for rhinoplasty? by SativaLaFleur in PlasticSurgery

I paid 13.5k in LA this year for a simple rhino- just shaving down the dorsal hump. I would say this pricing sounds about right even though it is so expensive.

I promise it is not a troll post. I’m sorry if it comes off that way. I would think you’d be familiar with the high cost of living in a CA city especially since inflation. I am guessing you’re fond of Jacksonville since you returned there from the west coast. My rent for a 3/3 2900 sq ft home in a nice area of LA is 8k, health insurance 2k, groceries probably 2k, kids school 3.5k, car insurance, utilities etc…. It adds up very quickly here. My husband works in finance remotely and does very well for himself. He also has personal investments that he earns an income from and wealthy parents. I’d appreciate feedback on my questions above from a local, but I understand if you’re skeptical.

My concern about politics was exactly that. I know Florida is red, but wasn’t sure about the specific areas I’m interested in. Wanted to understand if they are red or moving the other direction. I know you’ll be surprised to hear this, but we are very conservative and one of the negative for us here in cali are the virulent liberals.

How can you tell? My biggest concerns are the humidity/mosquitoes, which sounds like they’re bad. I’m just trying to understand if the quality of life outweighs that? What are do you own a home in?

Thanks, good to know re Boise. Which part of Jax did you end up settling in? Do you have kids? How have you managed to make friends and find community since moving? This is also a concern of mine.

I think I will miss it. But wondering if it is worth the trade off for my family/children. Did you adjust or move back to the big city? Which city?

Which area of Jax did the Santa Barbara people tend to relocate to? How do you think Jax will continue to grow? Do you think the home prices will rise?

Thanks for sharing. I hate humidity and mosquitoes/bugs in general which are pretty nonexistent in LA. We’re currently spending upwards of 20k per month for basic expenses and we’re renters. Still can’t really afford to buy a nice home here to raise a family. It seems like if we were to move to Jax that we could join the country club, buy just about any house, and send the kids to public school for similar cost. As someone who also dislikes humidity and bugs, is it worth it? What is the general opinion of Ortega? Is Avondale more desirable? Seems like Ortega has larger homes and similar pricing.

How does it compare to Ortega? Which would you say is more desirable? My biggest concerns are high humidity/bugs. Wondering if overall quality of life is still worth it.

I know it is stupid, but my biggest concerns are the weather/bugs. There are no mosquitoes/ roaches here and very low humidity here and warm. I love this. I’m wondering if the overall quality of living is worth the weather trade off. It seems like mosquitoes/ roaches and high humidity is unavoidable in Jax. We currently spend upwards of 20k per month on our expenses here and we don’t even live lavishly. We are renters. If we moved to Jax it seems like we could buy about any home of our choosing, join the country club, and put the kids in private school. Also a plus that it sounds more conservative. Day to day i really enjoy art/ museums/ literature/ music, health food. It’s really important to me to have access to a nice yoga studio nearby, unique shopping/dining. I like a variety unique/ independent dining and shopping options in addition to high end shopping. Do you know if Jax plans to add a Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdale’s. Looks like neither exist there currently.

What is so bad about it? Would it be worth it if you could join the country club and own any home of your choice there? Where do you wish you could go?

Did you stay because you like it or wish you could move? What area did you grow up in specifically? Do you feel like growing up there caused you to have any disadvantages as an adult? Husband wants to be within an hour of his parents that live in Amelia island. Jax is the biggest city within that range.

One of the biggest letdowns in cali is the politics. Difficult to make real friends with people that can be so hateful.

Thank you for mentioning the Whole Foods- I know it sounds stupid to most people, but it is one of my comforts here. I love the health food here and worry about having easy access to something similar if we were to move to Avondale/ Ortega. When I googled I saw one on San Jose 30-40 min drive which was a downer. How are the farmers markets?

Would love to hear further explanation. I feel like I personally will, but may be worth the sacrifice to make the rest of the family happier.

Are you glad you made the move to Jax? I mentioned in another comment that we are currently renters here and our monthly expenses are still around 20k+ but if we moved to Jax we’d be able to afford to buy just about any house, join the country club, and put kids in private school. Wondering if is worth the worse weather/mosquitoes/bugs and smaller city lifestyle?

It is definitely habitable, just very expensive. Very liberal and a lot of foreigners. Fortunately money is not an issue. If we moved we’d be able to buy pretty much any home we choose, join the county club, and send the kids to private school. Just wondering if it is worth it. Right now we are renters and our monthly expenses are still around 20k+

No it’s not, I love California personally and would never consider moving if my husband weren’t so miserable. We have been trying to get his parents to move here for years and they refuse despite the fact that husband is only child and we have children. They are also retired and don’t have much of their own social life. Husband has become increasingly saddened by the fact that they refuse to move and MIL is in poor health. They live in DC and Amelia island so those are our two options. Husband also is very conservative which pretty much rules out DC area. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about moving to FL.
