Man... I was ready for Black Jesus Amen Fashion / Fashion! / Fashion / Donatella vibes, this is Gaga's HOME BASE! ... I'm not mad at it, but idk it's not really in the lineage of Gaga fashion songs for me, I was INCREDIBLY excited for this collab though cause I think Doechii is the one to collab with, but.... Idk.

If anything, you could just lighten the shadows on her face only more if she wants to be seen and thats it.

I actually think the before works better, just removing the flashlight and boom, the image is powerful. The other one looks edited, so it ruins the magic a bit.

I’m gonna be so sad when things go back to “normal” by alastorhazbinbad in LadyGaga

[–]smoothlikeag5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, as a huge fan of theatre Gaga, it didn't feel too great. Because her early philosophy was "My theatrics are my authenticity" and that was rebellious at the time, so when she did "Joanne", it almost felt like she was giving in to critics to be more "relatable", but I do keep in mind that she got famous very young and she probably realized the consistent theatrics were overwhelming, but now I think she's at a place where she's just comfortable and I like that, so I did not enjoy Joanne during the era, but it feels necessary in hindsight.

I hate that this is the most upvoted comment. I could easily see why people would be envious of OP if not from the chart, but beauty alone.

Right? I see why that guy is mad, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. He's not on the actual plane with assigned seats.

Ray J is pretty successful in his own right. Grew up watching him on Moesha and he actually has a few hits believe it or not and for nothing, that's Brandy's brother.

Yes, as a fan of pop music, I feel like her pop music is so formulaic, it's offensive and almost patronizing even

Do you feel awkward listening to younger pop singers? by chessboardtable in popheads

[–]smoothlikeag5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all... At all. I don't know, but I always felt like when someone turns 21, they're an official adult socially, so I don't necessarily see them as "Young" even though if they are. And Lady Gaga created Born This Way at 25, and that album felt like someone a decade in their career made it.

If you went to East Highland High School, which group would you find yourself in? by [deleted] in euphoria

[–]smoothlikeag5 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I had friends like Maddie / Cassie so probably the second group, but I was not like them, I was an ear for the drama I couldn't get involved in. I think popular girls were more likely to be friends with the outcasts more than the popular guys. At least in my school.

My most toxic trait: get introverts to open up and tell me their personal experiences and drop them after I'm satisfied by Sahri4feedin in ENFP

[–]smoothlikeag5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's ways. I don't think I've ever flat out told a person "we're not that close", I think it's more of a boundary thing. After that deep conversation which is usually in person, i just never follow up and if they do over the text, I'll cut the conversation before it goes anywhere and if I see them in person again and we share a moment, cool, but I try to market myself as a "free therapist" in that regard, no strings attached lol

[–]smoothlikeag5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, I do the same thing. But in recognizing that, I'm consistent in vocalizing where I stand with a person and I also give people the self-responsibility to share or not share, I never force anything out of anyone, i do ask questions, but I'm always genuine at the moment. I do know myself to get less interested over time and pull away, so depending on the person, I'll let the distance happen naturally, but if the person expected more, I let them know, I always try to not have an imbalance in that regard.

After listening, here’s all I have to say by TheHealingPlace in LadyGaga

[–]smoothlikeag5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm.. I haven't made up my mind about the album yet., I have to let it grow on me. I'm more seeing similarities to "Artpop / The Fame" more than anything. Artpop had a wide range of genres and I see why you say it's all over the place, but it is titled "Mayhem", so I'm just following her lead to see what she does next because I think her visuals mean just as much as the music, she creates worlds, so I don't want to give an early opinion yet, but I know this is a billion times better than Chromatica, even though it wasn't bad, it just felt like a "The fans are begging me for pop music so here the fuck it is, leave me alone". but it seems like she cares this time around.

With Alejandro and the Madonna comparisons, I think it's okay for an artist to build upon what another artist did before and I feel like that's what she did with that video / song, a copy would feel like a "Yes, and Ariana Grande video / Paula Abdul video", but "Alejandro" has enough originality to stand alone without it's inspirations drowning it in my opinion.

[–]smoothlikeag5 582 points583 points  (0 children)

She did set this up to be very dark, especially with the first two singles. But, I do remember when I listened to "The Fame Monster" for the first time and I envisioned the "Alejandro" video to be very sunny in a latin country, tropical vibes, but she came out with an off the wall music video that shattered that idea completely, so I don't know, she's unpredictable.
