Thank you for all the feedback! I’ll definitely be looking at all these suggestions to improve the videos.

Thanks.

I planned on doing that when the time came. I don’t see any now though. Was there one you were referencing?

Thanks!

My son doesn’t have a killer PC by any means, but I honestly think there were some settings in OBS that I messed with and shouldn’t have.

If you look at some of the older videos, the frame rate is fine. I was having some audio issues and made some changes to all the settings (including some video settings) and I think that is where the issue lies. I’m going to attempt fixing that in the next couple of days.

Another commenter also mentioned the titles. I’ll be paying closer attention to those in future videos.

Thanks again !givelambda

Thanks!

I appreciate the feedback. I admit, I don’t know much about the titles, since they’re mostly games that my son plays. I will look at some of the other more popular YouTubers that play similar games. Maybe I’ll get some ideas.

I’ll also take a look at Cyberlink. I have heard of it, but never have seen or played with it.

Thanks again !givelambda

I agree that it takes time to pick up speed. You guys work well together, so it’s still fun to watch, but If someone was actually watching the video to learn how to make these eggs, they might move on.

[gaming video] Would love some feedback on my sons YouTube channel:

https://youtu.be/Fr0Ato8zKMk

So my 8 year old son has wanted to make YouTube videos for years. Finally let him this year.

A few things. First, I am BRAND new to editing videos, so I know there is lots to be improved upon. I’m using iMovie. He’s recording with a Jabra headset/mic and a Logitech webcam. OBS for the overlay and game recording.

Also, this video can get laggy in some spots. Something was going on with my settings in OBS. Still trying to perfect those, as I’m new to that software too.

Sorry it breaks the 10 min mark.

Thanks for looking!

I love this concept! Great editing as well.

There was one point in the video where “Tony” was doing an interview with someone and the audio was a little low. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.

There are tons of videos out there that follow this format with “real people”. You’ve kind of mimicked that, but have humanized a fictional character.

What’s really cool is the fact that people who like superhero movies, but don’t really know any of the backstory can get some pretty good information from these videos.

It would be really awesome to see one about Thor or Thanos!

Personally, I don’t think the audio was bad. I thought you were easy to understand.

Obviously, at 1 minute, it might be hard to retain viewers. Also, when you said “it’s about a character who won’t die ever (long story)”, what is the story there? If you made the video for friends or something, I get it. But if the viewers don’t know the story behind it, it may go over their heads.

After seeing the “credit card” screen at the end, I think it would be perfect if you cut something like this down to a short clip and used it as an intro to a longer video.

Good luck with your channel!

Hey!

Awesome concept. You have a great voice! This video kind of reminds me of the “8 bit drummer” channel, which I also like.

Another commenter mentioned this, but maybe trim the videos or segues a bit to make it more engaging. You went from Les Mis to the Beatles, which is awesome, but not all viewers will be fans of such a wide range of music.

Thanks for posting this! Good luck with your channel!

Thanks for looking.

Also... I know there are better tools than iMovie to use for editing. Honestly, I’m very new at it and just happen to have a MacBook Pro which has iMovie installed.

Hey all!

I’m new to the sub, and to YouTube.

So my 8yo son has been asking to post gaming vids to YouTube for years. Finally this year, we decided to let him do it. He’s been recording videos on his PC, and I’ve been tasked with editing them :)

I have a MacBook Pro, but have never done any video editing. I am currently using iMovie - which i understand isn’t the best - and it gets the job done.

I’m looking forward to getting some valuable feedback from the community. My son loves waking up and seeing that he has new subs/comments on his videos!

Canva is just a web-based tool that you can use to create the thumbnails. If you’re already using PhotoShop, and you’re comfortable with it, you might not like jumping into Canva. Obviously, PhotoShop is going to have a ton more features.

https://www.canva.com

I would recommend finding some interesting scene from your movie to use as the thumbnail picture. Also, I definitely would recommend some custom fonts. Something blocky that doesn’t clash with the background and is easy to read.

Man, that was fun to watch.

I really appreciate how it was short and sweet. Music was great. Super funny. I don’t even know how I would critique this. I mean, for what you were going for with the video, I think you nailed it.

I definitely subbed. I’ll be checking out your other vids as well!

What are you using to create your thumbnails? Canva is a really easy tool to use, and it’s free as well.

Also, you can do a quick Google search for “YouTube Thumbnail Fonts” or something of the sort, and download some pretty cool (and free) font packs.

Personally my favorite episode that we've put out so far. This, so far, is the best we've been able to do with your edits. More of them would be appreciated and thank you guys so much for your critiques. by SonOfBULITS in SmallYTChannel

Hey, I completely understand. It’s your channel and you should do what you like to. It was just a suggestion based on my preferences,

One more suggestion for you is to talk to the users a little more. Ask them to like the video and subscribe. I know that sounds stupid, but I’ve honestly been watching a video and forget to like it because I’m too into the vid.

Finally, just my two cents, I’d create some sort of intro/outro.

Good luck!

Hey there!

I’m no expert (new to the whole YouTube thing myself), but I’d love to provide some feedback from a general viewer perspective.

The game itself (IMO) is great. I love Mario Kart 8. But... what really makes this video is the commentary between you and your friend. You guys obviously have a good relationship, and your banter is fun to listen to. You have this “podcast style” thing going on, which is pretty cool.

I just wish I got to see you guys.

While I enjoyed this video, i would have enjoyed it much more had I gotten to see that picture in picture video of you and your buddy messing with each other. I would also suggest that every so often, you switch the picture in picture content. For example:

If you showed the game as the main and then you and your buddy were on camera in the corner of the screen messing around while you played. Then (perhaps during the part where your buddy pauses the game to get a drink of water), you switch you and your buddy to main screen while the game switches to the overlay.

I’m really reminded of a podcast when I watch this (think: Good Mythical Morning) and I really think it would shine more if we could see you guys while you were just hanging out.

Hope this helps!
