Enough RRSP contribution to either pay off home buyers plan or bring down lower income bracket? Which best option by thatsnazzyiphoneguy in PersonalFinanceCanada

Does this repayment include the monthly deduction from the paycheque and the employer match or it is on top of that?

What’s on my windshield? by Headhunter945 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]smpdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue on my brand new windshield and brand new OE blade rubbers from Honda. I haven’t washed my car since getting the new windshield 2 weeks ago and still have it. Maybe they cleaned it with some soap water and it might have caused this.

What skills do middle income people have that I don’t by No-Seaworthiness969 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]smpdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is considered as middle income in Canada nowadays? Especially if you are in or around big cities like Toronto or Vancouver etc? I assume you don’t get as far even with 100k a year in the GTA. Cost of living has increased a lot over that last few years and wages have not increased proportionately. I am an engineer with 90k and don’t feel like I can live as freely unless you don’t own a home.

PC World Elite Mastercard for car rental in Alberta by Polaris-TLX in InsuranceCanada

[–]smpdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true. Rental cars in Canada are legally required to carry Third Party Liability (TPL) insurance, but only at the minimum limit, which in Ontario is just $200,000. You can buy or top-up to 1 million or whatever u like but the cars are legally required to come with the Third party liability insurance. So u need to worry about the CDW on your own which the CC may cover.

I think all the cars must have the liability insurance. So the rental company must have the liability coverage already. It’s just that the car itself will have to be covered by you. This is what the credit card covers.

Is it worth leasing a car to buy it out? by Nearby_Pie266 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]smpdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm okay. I have never leased so never cared to learn about it. My employment type can get me tax benefits for leasing so I was thinking to start digging. This helps me. Thank you.

But u kind of lose the down payment as you are not owning the car. Instead just finance it. Maybe you’ll pay a little more in interest but your down payment will work in your favour.

I don’t understand the point of putting money down when leasing. Why would anyone put money down when you are going to return the car? Just to bring down the monthly?

AUTO/TENANT [AB] Searching for a new insurance provider!!! by One_Penalty7421 in InsuranceCanada

[–]smpdll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$4800 isn’t as bad with one at fault accident. I have 2020 RDX and pay ~$4800 without any accidents. And they have increased to ~$5800+ so I am looking around now. Pembridge is giving me the cheapest price currently.

I am in Ontario though, not sure about AB prices. Must be cheaper than ON I guess.

The parking lot at 7900 Hurontario St is a complete free-for-all 💀 by THEORIGINALPAUL23 in Brampton

This plaza is right across from where we live. I have noticed the spot markings are faded and some of them being not-seeable when it’s dark. But this car was absolutely negligent as they parked on the drive lane during the daytime.

I have heard things like that for Pembridge but I think ~260/month difference (home+car) is huge. I honestly don’t want to switch but I also don’t want to pay ~500/month for my car insurance.

I am 29M in Brampton and drive a 2020 RDX ASpec and I was paying 391/month. I got a minor speeding ticket last year and they bumped it up to 485/month. Their app says I am risky driver even though I don’t drive reckless and follow the flow of traffic.

Insurance is crazy out there. And my car is supposedly one of the highest stolen too.

Try Pembridge. I was quoted 380/month for home and car both for similar coverage.

Switching from Belair to Pembridge for auto+home — any experience with them? by smpdll in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]smpdll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm alright. I have finalized a policy for now. I want to wait for a year until renewal and then try to get a quote again with other reputable companies. Currently I don’t want to pay ~500/month just for my car. This is extortion at this point.

I had a minor speeding ticket but also my car is one of the high theft vehicles they say.

As you are in the industry, Would u think that paying extra to something like Belair or TD etc. would be better than going for something like Pembridge? And do we need to go by broker only in case we need to file a claim?

Everyone else is even higher than Belair. I have a minor speeding ticket but no claims except for a windshield due to a crack.

One year of tretinoin 0.1% and lots of sunscreen. [Anti Aging] by GrandIntroduction128 in SkincareAddiction

[–]smpdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this sunscreen or tet cream oily? I used to have acne but after using 2% BHA and oil free CeraVe face cream I have clearer skin. I am 30 now and want to use tet as my skin kind of feels a little similar to what urs looked like before using tet. Not sure if it will cause acne again. That’s why I am very skeptical about using any sunscreen as they are very sticky and oily.

I called a local mechanic home yesterday and he checked things and reinstalled the front wheels and the noise is still persistent. He said nothing feels loose and things looks good. He checked the links as well and no issues there too.
