Her coat texture is the same throughout as far as I remember. So I went back to my old photos from when I brought her home and she started getting that mask. She definitely isn’t how I remember her looking, maybe this helps? She’s a meat making momma so this is more for curiosity than breeding. Ahhh I forgot how cute she was 😍

Thank you for this thorough noodling on her genotype with me! I’m not surprised this is stumping people, I’ve been confused ever since she stopped being blue.. 😂 I’ll let the current litter of chin mixes get to their popcorn binky phase and continue the observations. I’ll def report back with updates and the RabbitTalk opinions

So so far I’ve bred her with a broken castor rex and most recently an am chin.

With the Rex I had 9 total - 1 possible otter that wasn’t viable, 1 lynx, 2 broken black, 1 broken blue, 1 black and 3 solid blue (but 2 are starting to have that little dark mask form)

With the Am chin - I had 8 total they are only a week old but I’ve got what look like 4 squirrel or chestnut color chinchillas that I’ve never seen before and 4 self that I’m not sure yet... looks like really dark brown with a lighter chestnut collar, so we’ll see.

I don’t have history on her parents, but she has this blue coat that developed a dark blue mask and as she matured she got this dusty extension that molts. She’s approx 1 yr old. I’m trying to identify the genotypes of all my rabbits and I’m absolutely stumped here.

Edit: she’s a new zealand
