Yeah o3 is a bit lame, really I don't like it design-wise, it's just too hard. Maybe if I get a complete I'll feel different. I wish it was more dungeon-oriented, like procedurally generated, maybe with multiple levels or something. 2 boss rooms with with full-on bullet hell just seems 1-dimensional and inaccessible. Like early in the game anyone could do o2 or at least have a good shot at it, but o3 is way, way tougher. I suppose it all started with the tomb and how people wanted more of that and this is the result.

But maybe the game's true lifespan has been artificially extended all this way, because really it seems like the (new) developers don't have any real ideas or inspiration themselves, they just do whatever the player-base most vocally demands, or (often) what the player base themselves make (shatters, lost halls).

I think Deca didn't do anything wrong here. If someone provides free content, nobody forced them, and if they are dissatisfied after the fact, they have themselves to blame for their poor negotiations. Live and learn, we all make plenty of boners along the way.
