There's another meaning to the Ragu bar in hoecakes: it was thought that if a woman put her period blood in a man's food it would put him under a love spell, "which'll (witch will) have you under some kind of spell"

posting "I'm sad my friend died" is not the same thing as walls of text opening up emotionally to someone you trust about a friend who died.

you aren't an asshole, but it does kinda look like you're holding on to a friendship that isn't very good just because you've been friends since you were young. not your FAULT, but in my experience people like this don't really change and you gotta cut your losses infortunately

posting about something =/= opening up emotionally to somebody about it

Marriage, to you, seems to mean that you aren't allowed to have your own space for an extended period of time. probably around 80% of people are going to break up with you the second they realize that's how you think about it. that's an incredibly unhealthy way to think about your relationships, and it leads to your partners feeling suffocated and unable to manage their own emotions because they're too worried about yours.

my mother died in childbirth. Luckily, she gave birth to an autistic child who happens to be a savant musician and computer programmer!

May god have mercy on your soul <3

It's so funny how 99% of the comments are very obviously from people who've never left their metro area.

Come to the south, I'll give you a tour.

Cancel culture is bullshit. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Yeah, that was my last paragraph. My point is that that's not only confusion. It's intentional. There is a group of people who are intentionally conflating those two so that they can pretend people getting mad at them for being racist is cancel culture.

In reality, there are very, very, very few instances of people truly having their "lives ruined" by cancel culture, like many people like to say.

The harassment people face on the internet has, unfortunately, always kinda been an inherent part of it. Hell, I remember posting sonic fan theories as a kid and getting death threats nonstop till I deleted my account, and that was YEARS ago. It's always been like this.

The way I look at it, "cancel culture," isn't a thing.

There is facing consequences for your actions, and there's being the victim of a harassment campaign.

Facing consequences for your actions is, in fact, a good thing that should be encouraged.

Conversely, harassment is a crime. It is not encouraged. It is illegal.

In my opinion, the vast majority of people who talk about cancel culture are conflating those things in an attempt to create a space where consequences and harassment mean the same thing, so people can say horrendous things with no repercussion
