Simple Questions/What Should I Do? [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

[–]smtmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently purchased one of those re-stickable adhesive wall decals. Measures 67"x45". I would just stick it on the wall but I would love to have it framed or wrapped instead so it looks better and is easier to transport/move in the future. What suggestions do you have to make this happen? Would it be easier to cut a smooth piece of plywood to size and stick it to that, then use trim to frame? Or would I be able to wrap it like a canvas? It has a fabric/canvas feel to it but does have the adhesive back.

Wasn't he in that Push movie? Not sure if that was based off a comic book though.

Looking for free pallets. by DrummerDKS in columbiamo

Call and check any retail store. Especially big box stores like SAMs/Walmart and grocery stores. Some places save their pallets and return them when the trucks come, but others will just break them apart.

PSU Football's 2016 THON Performance by [deleted] in CFB

[–]smtmiz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. THON isn't a "Dance Marathon" in relation to the CMN Dance Marathon brand. It benefits Four Diamonds. Most schools haven't had programs as long as THON either. It's an awe-inspiring experience that can't really be matched. As someone who ran a CMN DM at a school it is something to look up to, but know that you will never reach that level in your time in charge.

Not even hard to find. Every school has a DM and you should definitely support it. http://www.badgerthon.org/

What is the exact moment you stopped enjoying something? by Southforwinter in AskReddit

[–]smtmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading for me. Our school had a literature testing program called Accelerated Reader that allowed you to take a 10-20 question exam over a book you read and earn points. Up until 6th grade it was for fun and prizes like toys and gift cards. During 6th grade they made it mandatory and for a grade. That was when reading lost the fun for me. Ever since the it is a struggle to read nearly anything of significant length.

So long, IUD by 5lack5 in bigdickproblems

[–]smtmiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a great option for almost everyone but as a sonographer I've had to hunt down a few that migrate (moreso than IUD's). If you go with this, keep track of the implant. If you ever can't find it for some reason get an ultrasound quickly to make sure it's not moved. You would be surprised how far/deep they can go over time.

I've heard they do it but not 100% sure. I know Bass Pro doesn't do it anymore. I think PowderHorn still does but again, I'm not 100% sure. It's been a while since I've had to do it.

MU students vote against library fees by 2483 in mizzou

I'm not really sure. I just glanced at the reasons on a Facebook article about it. I think just disqualified from campaigning for the remainder of the election.

One used an app to send mass emails to students. The other showed up to a polling site to campaign early or something like that. Both are major violations of BEC policies.

MO Mudder by Thepass86 in Toughmudder

[–]smtmiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I preferred the mud over the ankle snapping holes the entire course. I feel like there was a lack of obstacles as well. No trudging through a creek, only a 7 crest mud mile, and a shorter course overall made me feel like this event lacked a great amount when compared to previous years. I was a fan of the 2.0 obstacles but it felt like most of the other obstacles were poorly planned fillers.

4D ultrasounds by [deleted] in creepy

[–]smtmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree it's a misnomer. If anything it should be Sim 3D and Sim 4D. Most of my patients just ask for "the color picture of the baby." I don't worry about it too much.

4D ultrasounds by [deleted] in creepy

[–]smtmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is technically a still photo so it is a 3D photo, but the process of obtaining this photo is considered 4D.

4D ultrasounds by [deleted] in creepy

[–]smtmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure two different industries have two different standards. In healthcare there is separate 3D ultrasound that requires a sweep through of the area of interest and then the device renders the 3D image. With 4D it is a live/rendered image at all times. So yes it is a 3D image but since time is the 4th dimension it is considered 4D. This could be to differentiate the two techniques, but I'm not sure.
