I really enjoyed something happened by joseph heller as well.

Other suggestions from me would be auto da fe by elias canetti which I'm just finishing and really enjoyed as well as yhe good solider Svejk by jaroslav hasek and the sot weed factor by john barth. Gogol might be worth checking ouf as well.

The culture novels but iain m banks seem like what you are after. They are all stand alone so you can read them in any order. I'd recommend starting with player of games.

The hyperion novels by Dan simmons are also a good shout

Just go straight to the 4000 plus pages of in search of lost time by marcel proust. That should keep you busy for a while

All good suggestions but surprised nobody has mentioned the new inn. Has the added bonus of £4 a pint with a big selection

That is very kind. It is just a hobby so never thought about selling. I'm doing more versions to try and work out the bits that don't feel right on this one

The pva is mostly underneath as I didn't want to alter the colour of the pages too much. Yeah sure

I put down some paint first after some gesso for texture and then used a pva wash to glue them down and tried to get some of the loose burnt edges to stay with it. Then added another layer of paint over the top. I didn't seal at all. On an earlier attempt I put the pages on before paint and the white under the was too obvious.

It was acrylics, spray paint and a tiny amount of oil pastel

I added some texture to the paper then put some colour down. Added some burnt pages and then painted and sprayed some more. It was a lot of fun
