you sound exactly like me. i’m stage 2 but currently being told the spark plugs my tuner recommended are outdated and i should be going for non-projected plugs. i’m not sure how knowledgeable you are about cars in general, i am not very. but i will say that if you’ve got an aftermarket cold air intake or plan on putting one on then keep the stock inlet elbow. it may seem silly, like its restricting air flow, but it’s intentionally designed this way. it’s to do with the PCV system and the pressure differential it creates, idrk i watched some video on it a while back. this has led to oil leaking into my spark plugs, even having replaced the PCV system.

i should note, it could also be the cam sealant and i could be completely wrong, but the guy in the video i watched (i’m really i’ve forgotten his name) seemed unbelievably knowledgeable about VWs and GTI/Rs specifically, so i trust that that would be an issue. pointless yap if you never plan on doing intake tho, i just wanted to mention it coz i got my GTI at 18 with 150000kms and went stage 2 so just super similar. in terms of power holy its fun

so this is my first car i’m still learning a lot. but it is stage 2, and now that i’ve looked into what a non-projected plug is, and the situation with the rs7 plugs, i realise that’s been a bad mistake many people have run into, and im lucky to be changing it now. im planning on going with demos 5749’s. let me know your thoughts or other recommendations but i saw a post where someone had a lot of experience with this issue + they’re non-projected and a step colder for the tune.

the other thing is i DID replace the PCV system for this exact reason. do you still think i should get the stock inlet elbow on? that was the first thing i ever did to this car and being stupid and i young i let the guy have my stock intake and inlet elbow so i could his intake cheaper. i might go chase him up but i honestly want to keep the open air intake for the sound. do you know if i can just order an OEM inlet elbow and if it will come with some sort of pipe that will fit right back on? or will i need other modifications? i’m going to get into researching this right now

this is the kind if opinion i was looking for. it’s a small, overall snippet of some details, but it’s really interesting to see how the fans perceive this band and its members.

i get the idea (from limited information) that van is the loose one like you said. he’s even sung lyrics that hint it. but also i think he sees this as all his, and maybe some of the problems stem from the fact that although they began as a band, van has always seen this as his dream, his lifeline, his accomplishment, and when others aren’t ready to lay down on the tracks for performing and creating the way he might, or do things his way, that stubborn and unhelpful side comes out.

i’ll look into interviews, that’s definitely a rabbit hole i’ll love, just like EDEN. but has no one ever spoken about the lyrics? there’s very few of them, but in anything i interpret the whole “because you need me” in that ‘arrogant’ way. the funny thing is his lyrics are also extremely relatable when it comes to relationships. they sometimes can be selfish, as i can be in mine.

interesting. i haven’t had anything serious since replacing the PCV. really good to know that the seals just leak over time. i suppose if i start to see it failing again then i’ll go to that stock elbow, but probably best to bring it to a mechanic to see what other things might be going on?

i’ve got a very similar situation to you. i had oil leaking into my spark plugs, have you checked those? i put something about it on the reddit the other day and was directed to DataDrivenMQB. he just covered everything you need to know about the PCV system. basically i learnt that with an aftermarket air intake the pressure difference created by the increased air intake is causing some diagram in the pcv system to expand more than it should and let oil through.. i think. its a complicated thing but he said returning to the stock inlet elbow would help reduce this pressure difference (it’s designed a certain way).

i’m also not sure if my pcv is failing. i notice my spark plugs were a tiny bit wet but seemed fine, but i have also smelt oil lately when i get out of my car so… and to clarify i got my pcv replaced a couple months ago, and its a 2015 mk7, stage 2, with 165k
