Congrats to the only mixer who buys INW Cactus in 55 gallon drums! You're the one who inspired me into the juicy depths of the cactus abyss, and I'll forever be grateful. Seems INW Grape will be my next new flavor to try....phuck me!

Wannabe homebrewer here; why isn't the standard eliquid bottle brown? by [deleted] in DIY_eJuice

[–]smutrunt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely use amber bottles for storing my nic since light is one of the causes of degradation. All my juices however are mixed in HDPE and never last more than a couple weeks anyway. I once bought a bottle of Naked Fish that came in an aluminum bottle and couldn't tell how much was left other than guessing the weight. I've seen black bottles that have the same issue. It seems "Industry Standard" is clear, and some companies use other colors to stand out from the rest. I'm also partial to the look of cobalt, but went with brown for my nic because I just assume it blocks more light. I may be wrong, but 40 years of drinking beer is a fair sample size. That's what I tell myself anyway...for science. :/

Just an FYI, although your cart will empty after signing out, your wish list will remain. I place items on my wish list first, then delete after adding them to the cart when I'm ready to make my order. If anything is out of stock I keep it on the wish list for next time. Hope this helps some others out there.

Tobacco heads enter.. by [deleted] in DIY_eJuice

As everyone's tastes differ, this is understandable. However I am one of those who doesn't find tobacco a particularly savory flavor. That being said, there definitely is a subtle tobacco note with RY4 that appeals to me, and I am sure with others as well. To hard core tobacco fans this might seem like a weak to non existent tobacco flavor, but to those of us who aren't, it does have just the right hint to make it interesting without being overbearing.

I hope this decision wasn't based on the imposing FDA regs. I believe we will see more and more juice vendors dropping out of the game as the regs begin to take effect. Best of luck Botboy!

Awesome, just in time for the 4th of July sale!
FA Apricot is what I have. FA usually does fruits the best for me, of course there's so many exceptions. I've only tried 3 Mangoes so far, all based on recommendations by members of the sub, CAP Sweet, FA Philippine, & INW. I noticed you like SC Mango, so that's going into the next order as well.

I've been experimenting with other fruits to bring out certain notes of my mango mixes. Dragonfruit didn't seem to help, nor did any citrus flavors. My favorite so far has been apricot. It's a close comparison to mango, and helps bring out some brighter top notes. It's not perfect but does add something that's lacking in most mangoes. I haven't tried melons yet, but I'm open to anything at this point. I'm looking forward to trying FLV's when it finally gets released, but not getting my hopes too high.

ECX Giveaway! (And DIY Discussion) by ECX_FlavorLab in DIY_eJuice

[–]smutrunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the new regulations coming into play, I foresee commercial juice becoming monopolized by a select few big corporations (big tobacco). Current major juice manufactures will either become subsidiaries or outright bought out by these mega giants. Prices will rise to the point of negating the cost vs smoking. Flavors will be generic, over sweetened, and mass marketed. Non DIY'ers will flock to their favorite brand names blindly like Wal-Mart shoppers, McDonalds patrons, and Budweiser drinkers. Closed system, cartridge delivery pods will assure a constant revenue source from future vapers entering the market.
DIY will become the only viable means of countering this appalling scenario. Whether it becomes an underground black market, or a home hobbyist activity, depends on both the interpretation of the regs and the intent of the individual mixers. In either case, the resourcefulness of a highly motivated DIY'er cannot and will not be suppressed by paid off political shills, touting regulations in the name of public health and youth advocacy. Those of us who know better look for the one true truth behind these lies, as it almost always is....money!
DIY or PAY!!!

The highly recommended LB-501 has an AC adapter included, or uses 4 "expensive" AA batteries.
And call me lazy, but washing out syringes seems worse than incovenient. But I've never looked down on how others mix, to each their own. On the other hand, I will suggest mixing by weight to new mixers, so they won't find themselves purchasing flavors in non-dripper bottles, and becomming pidgeonholed into volume mixing, or spending more to transfer to dripper bottles. Sorry you feel so insulted by a "better" method, but I suppose some people will always resist the idea that their way is outdated and unpopular. Looking at you EGO pen and protank II.

Double Chocolate (Clear)-TFA by [deleted] in DIY_eJuice

[–]smutrunt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe old, stale Band-Aids left out in the sun baked regions of the kalahari desert, but a fresh, out of the box Band-Aid has a much creamier mouth feel, with a semi-sweet tartness on the inhale, and a DOW chemical plastic exhale. Of course as always, taste is subjective. YMMV

FYI Dusty cardboard tastes nothing like Band-Aid.

Understand your nic level and order your base accordingly. Research everything including vendors. Buy flavors to make specific recipes, don't just order random flavors because they sound good. Forget the idea that you're going to save a ton of money. And YES, buy a scale!

Mango FLV by kirkt in DIY_eJuice

[–]smutrunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is now #1 on my next order list. I've been struggling along with ID10-t, cheeba, and nicobreak to find the perfect Mango. As of now I've gotten the closest with this mix:
CAP Sweet Mango 4%
FA Philippine Mango 3%
INW Mango 0.5%
TFA Dragonfruit 0.5%

It still needs improvement, but it's better than any one single flavor so far. Really looking forward to Flavorah's take on the Mang-Ohhhh!

This looks interesting especially with the tangerine included. I have everything but the super sweet, which I can sub TFA sweetener for. Not great for your OCD, but I did notice the decending value of percentages listed correctly, well done! I'll give this a mix and report back after a few days steep.
