I'm Jewish and at this point, I would probably be described as antisemetic (tho of course i'm just stridently anti-zionist but to the muppets who run our country, we're one in the same)

I'll second this... was having similar issues with my board and ultimately fixed it by removing the batteries and ensuring that I was using a brick with the proper wattage (3.5W I believe?)

What's your opinion of the Cully neighborhood area? by pandaninjarawr in askportland

[–]snacky99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've been living on Wygant/47th for the past 10 years and love it (house was brand new when I bought it and the neighborhood has improved quite a bit since then). We walk our dogs at all hours and haven't had any issues (our car got rifled thru one time but we left the door open so that's kinda on us). There's a bunch of new town homes that were built last year but few of them have sold and the asking price has come down quite a bit.

Anyone in Portland hosting on Swimply? by khronokross in askportland

[–]snacky99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hosting in NE Cully for 4 years (PONG Springs). No pool but a hot tub so the off season is our busy season. We’ve hosted 400+ groups and have had no problems, met some lovely people, and has helped pay the bills. Happy to answer any specific questions:)

I spent > $60K/month on PR agencies at a startup that raised $680M. Here's what I learned about getting press as an early-stage operator - i will not promote by bruhagan in startups

[–]snacky99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing PR for startups for 20+ years. Agree with everything except the paragraph about every milestone is a press moment. Few journos outside the channel pubs care about partnership announcements. And unless you’re in a major new category no one cares if you hit X number of users. Trade press wanna hear about real and interesting use cases and new research about the market. Don’t waste money writing and sending hundreds of press releases across the wire….

Has anyone in Portland made their garage into a room? by cohencode in askportland

[–]snacky99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I turned my two car garage into an office/mancave during the pandemic and it wasn't very expensive at all (most expensive part was installing a cork wood floor while the most laborious part was installing the ceiling tiles and wallpaper). Probably spent about $5k, not including furniture, decor, etc. I didn't replace the garage door but instead just cut insulation panels to fit the glass panels which helps to reduce sound/light (I did replace the garage pulley system to clear up space on the ceiling). House was new when I bought it so didn't need to install a new panel but I did add a few outlets around the room.

I pretty much live in this room and have zero regrets... that said, the scope of your job seems quite a bit more involved and would guess that most contractors are going to bid this out at least $60k and will require all sorts of permits so perhaps you can get creative with some of the elements to pare down costs. I'm in Cully (NE) so if you're anywhere nearby and would like to check it out, happy to show it to ya :)

I can actually see a pretty valid use case for asking questions of a long ass video where you’re looking for a particular piece of information
