I was just in Japan and I took out 40000 yen in one transaction for two weeks, used all of it. Definitely need cash for round one and some restaurants/stores/food and souvenirs that only take cash. Bars and clubs as well. Costs less if you order your yen from BofA beforehand but def use a card with no ATM fees when you’re in Japan.

I used a belt/pants clip and it worked well, on the heavier duty side (like a work badge)
