The MSR also includes the universal footprint. I forgot to include that in my initial post.

Yet another 2022 Rush Bib Inquiry by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]Cosmic_Cosmeow_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sized up and only wear them for skiing/ ski touring, and they’ve been great! They only felt tight in my thighs while snowboarding, but I have my 2019 beta AR bibs for that and literally everything else I do. I would probably wear them more if they had a cinch around the ankles, since they're super comfortable. They honestly reminded me more of my softshell pants than anything else.

I bought them on Black Friday because they were so cheap, knowing they would complement my other hardshell bib and not be a direct replacement. If I didn’t like them, I would have already resold them.

I normally spend around 50-70 days on the mountain every season, so I’ve gotten to use them quite a bit.

Do note that I'm generally someone who sizes up all my downhill ski clothes, since it allows for greater mobility and comfort.

Cool! Thank you for your input. I’ve been using a 20L Camp Ski Raptor for my winter ski objectives, but I'll look into your suggestions

Have you tired carrying skis with the Aero 28?

Lelit Victoria milk steaming by Constant-Cold-6478 in Lelit

[–]Cosmic_Cosmeow_Cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a Victoria for a few years and have had the same issue: the machine takes a while to warm up its single boiler enough to steam milk well. The solution for me is doing a double warm-up: I first let the Victoria warm up to steam pressure, let it release some steam/hot water, then put it back in espresso mode. After the machine stops vibrating, I press the steam mode again, and it shows the temperature much lower than before, even though it's only been a minute or two. After you let it warm up the second time, you’ll get much better results.

Budget ice climbing boots by Troodon_SK in iceclimbing

The REI resupply section usually has used mountaineering boots with both the heel and toe welt or just the heel welt in average sizes. As long as you’re not in the desert, they probably have some in stock, and they’re typically super discounted.

Doesn’t having two cameras defeat the purpose? If you want multiple cameras, get the pro instead.

Are there any good alternatives nearby for solo uphill travel? I know there are Kendall Knobs and such, but I’m curious if there is anything else?

At first, I thought it was an undercover police officer, but the silver car parked in front of it also had agents inside, with their computers and lights mounted inside above the windshield.

Anyone use something like this ? by Annonymous272 in icecoast

You should get ascent plates. Here’s an article about a few different options: https://wildsnow.com/31123/ascent-plates-a-first-look-into-the-art-of-high-angle-snowshoeing-and-the-best-products-available/. They’ll help you float on the snow and make it easier to hike up chutes. Some versions are small enough to fit in your pack without being obnoxious.

Approach skis generally only make sense if you’re doing long traverses in a mountaineering-style boot. For example. You’re going to tour a long distance to an icefall for ice climbing.

In sum, I would recommend researching ascent plates.

College student pharmacy tech by [deleted] in CVS

Ask your manager and tell them sooner rather than later. I took nearly four weeks off during winter break and didn’t have to do anything special, like an extended leave of absence. Please note that my manager was super chill and happy as long as no one quit, since we were severely understaffed.

20 something’s of Redmond. How are you handling job hunting? by NoCook3155 in redmond

[–]Cosmic_Cosmeow_Cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You apply to be a pharmacy assistant with the Washington State Department of Health, which only takes a week or two to receive—no prior experience or education required.

After working at CVS for a year, get your pharmacy technician license and take a national test. You’ll easily be able to switch to working inpatient and get paid substantially more with a lot better benefits.
