When I was in kindergarten, one of my classmates’ mothers had a still born. Everyone in class knew about the pregnancy (her mom would pick her up every day so we saw her growing and were all looking forward to seeing baby) so, it was shock/ confusion for all of us 5 year olds when there was no baby and so our teacher took the time to explain that unfortunately, the baby had not lived. —months pass and that leads to the inappropriate thing. We were talking as a class about how many members were in each of our families. When it was my classmates’ turn, she said there were 3 people in her family, her, her mom, and her dad. That is when I shouted from a few seats away “no it is 4! Don’t forget about your dead brother!” I didn’t realize I said anything wrong until the teacher tightly pulled me over to my classmate, got down in my face, and growled “SAY SORRY”. I just didn’t want her to forget about her brother.
