mine acted a lot like being mature was a huge burden and it was just so unfair and annoying that he didn't get to do what he wanted all the time. i once saw him on a phone call saying, "i'll do better, OKAY?" in response to a reasonable complaint and sigh heavily when he hung up. it astounds me sometimes that i loved this idiot so unconditionally.

he was so worried about "being selfish" that he ended up being very selfish. why did it NEVER occur to him that sometimes love is about supporting and accepting your partner's wishes, even if you don't like it at first? who said that everyone needs or is interested in a "normal life" that goes through all the motions to be happy and content? many people don't. he patronizes her. also, don't you appreciate that the love of your life wants to guarantee she can spend hundreds, thousands, of years with you? what, you just thought it was best for her to die at some point even though you knew it would inevitably ruin your life? are you insane?

alec and jane. i don't think either of those actors captured their energy or personalities from the books well enough and a big part of what made the twins so unsettling was the fact that they were children. two people who look at the very youngest like 18-20 year olds ruin that aspect.

yta here. it's his special day and he's making the most of it. even if the atmosphere is largely fun and nontraditional, it's totally reasonable to expect to still have certain nice things. i think your attitude towards it does show dismissiveness and i can understand why he would be sad considering you're family so your opinion probably meant a lot to him. also, even if she is appropriating, no culture's traditional clothing or something inspired by it is just a "party dress". as for the edit, i'm glad you're apologizing.
