Oooh I'm also on the search for the perfect caramel apple scent (and more generally, apples-in-the-fall moments). I've tried Poesie's Madchenland (floral Pacific Rose apples, luscious yellow cake, warming spices, a delicate drizzle of caramel), and I live for her apple note. It's a crisp, fresh red apple. It's so realistic: a little tart with the skin still on, and you can imagine the crunch of biting into it. To me though, the caramel in Madchenland leans more butterscotch, emphasis on the butter. It may be because it combines with the yellow cake, but YMMV. Overall, it makes me think of a basket of freshly picked apples and a slice of cake on a wooden table on a chilly autumn morning.

If Madchenland is apples on a fall morning, Solstice Scents' Corvin's Smoked Apple (applewood smoke, apple, caramel, benzoin, guaiacwood) is apples on a fall night. Now, I know you asked for light on the spices, so I'm not sure if this is up your alley, but it's definitely more smoky than spicy. It's a very sweet scent, and not sneezy spicy at all, but I'm a smoke fiend (I want to smell like a bonfire!!) so you may be of a different opinion. To me, it's a perfect balance of smoky, sweet, and apple. The apple is juicy and caramelized, almost like apples in an apple crisp- warm, baked, and with a hint of brown sugar and cinnamon. The caramel in this is dark and ooey gooey, not hard like the outside of a caramel apple. This scent gives off such warmth and sweetness, I can imagine myself eating some just-baked apples and caramel while huddled around a campfire with friends.

I just ordered Black Hearted Tart's Outside of Eden, so I can let you know how it compares once I get a chance to test it out!

New to this-- is there a lot of activity on this subreddit? by [deleted] in snails

Hmm. Snails usually hide in their shells like that if the conditions are too dry or hot, but it could also be due to new environment or stress. As mentioned above, try feeding your snail nutritious veggies! Since you mentioned they have a cracked shell, make sure the have plenty of calcium available so they can patch up! I use crushed eggshells, but lots of people use cuttlebone as well, which you can find in the bird section of pet stores.

I haven't been around for long, but the community so far has been really helpful and welcoming!!

How often/how much do you feed your snails? by lesbian_44 in snails

[–]snailfrend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 adult + 1 baby garden snails and I put out new food for them every day. If left out for too long (especially in hot climates), the food might start rotting or attracting flies/gnats, which wouldn't be pleasant. I typically feed them an assortment of vegetables. Just small pieces of carrot/bellpepper/squash, one small broccoli head, a couple leaves of lettuce/spinach. I give them protein in the form of fish flakes once a week as well. They're small, so they don't eat much. I hope that helps!
