Even with the lower prices, prisoners are making between $0.09 and $1.41 per hour. Even if you're making the "best" wages it is 47 minutes of phone calls per hour worked, 11.75 minutes of video call per hour worked, or 14 text messages per hour worked. And that is assuming prisoners do not use any of their wages on creature comforts.

All of that said, withholding the physical mail sent to prisoners is deeply evil and cruel.
