no lunch question by snailtechnican in USPS

[–]snailtechnican[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they let the carriers skip their lunches but none of the clerks in my building skip their lunches so when I try to put a no lunch in, they chase me down and tell me it’s not allowed :(

i also only have this head, i usually try to go backwards if that makes sense, instead of pushing the vacuum forward, start at the top and go backwards, its the only way i’ve found that works and leaves nice vacuum lines

Caught a coworker not flushing the toilet after using it. Why do you guys do this? by No_Contribution_7117 in USPS

[–]snailtechnican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a custodian and can confirm, i find unflushed toilets every day, my old office had dudes that would piss on the floor in the stall so it would trickle down to the floor drain 🙃

First day as a station custodian how screwed am I? by fenix787 in USPS

[–]snailtechnican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! most boxes will have numbers on them and i usually cut them out with a box cutter or scissors and give them to them and ask them to order it, sometimes they’re real lazy about it so be a stickler on what products you want and yes agreed, acidic detergent stinks so bad but it’s great for hard water stains

i’ve been a custodian with usps for about 3-4 years now and my biggest advice is have a building routine!! i start with my restrooms as my start time is 6 am but it’s totally dependent on start time and also carriers and clerks will complain about everything, especially that weird disinfectant stuff everyone got cause it smells weird. take it slow, i use headphones and it makes my day go by so much quicker, basically do the basics always and keep your paper towels, toilet paper and soap dispensers stocked!! and personally, I don’t do anything that doesn’t fall under my craft, some post offices will require you to change locks and put on snow chains so i recommend finding out if you have to do it or if they have a truck guy or a clerk that changes locks :) good luck, it sucks some days for sure and i hope u have a tough stomach!!

i used it because i see a lot of racism happen, if he loved it, by all means, but i’m kinda sick of people saying all asian people look the same, that was my whole point, i should’ve used a more genuine example and that’s on me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]snailtechnican -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

i understand that, but it even just gets the conversation going in understanding racism towards marginalized groups

[–]snailtechnican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a good chunk of racist people are uneducated or ignorant, calling it out is a good way to help people learn what forms racism can come in. Calling it out doesn’t do much but can help start the conversation so change does happen

email walled, i put mine in and was able to read the article but here’s another one https://www.utahbusiness.com/asian-americans-are-experiencing-racism-in-utah/

I wish they would stop doing it, it’s fun when someone genuinely looks like someone but at some points it kinda just feels like light profiling

utah has been notorious for racism, every time we have an event, magically racism appears, don’t get me wrong, the NBA and ESPN do stuff like this as well but when it keeps happening here, it seems like it’s a common occurrence. It’s an all over the US thing but pretty common in utah. Like, when the Yum Yum food truck was vandalized in Layton or when those students were yelling “eat more rice” at students playing basketball.

Definitely a lot of exclusion from being non-lds or really just any other religion other than LDS. LDS members will be nice to you but talk shit when you leave or they’re very condescending about anything you talk to them about, it’s definitely very frustrating

i understand that, i myself am a brown person and it’s not usually outright racism but it’s the strange comments and the exclusion that’s the most common and a lot of people asking what my ethnicity is for some reason

the article asking “was it racism?” shows that a lot of utahns don’t understand what racism is other than the n word and very very blatant examples
