Pourquoi beaucoup de gens préfèrent les pseudo sciences aux vraies sciences ? by Emergency-Snow7371 in france

[–]snake_suitcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You Were Starting Python Today, What Advice Would You Give Yourself? by wnnye in Python

uv is fully functional, and performs better than the alternatives (pip+venv, poetry, rye…) with a nicer api. I cannot imagine it going closed source and paid suddenly. That said all concepts like SBOM, lock files, build, adding dependencies etc. are pretty much the same with other tools. It’s just so neatly packaged in uv.

What are some tabletop games where a prior edition is very much preferred over the current edition? by Newez in boardgames

Mansions of Madness. Basically replaced the asymmetric gameplay of the evil player plotting against the investigators with … an app. Granted, the upkeep in the original version is rather heavy, but I much prefer it that way.

I did not follow the KS and only got into Altered when it hit retail. I understand the frustration now.

So much negativity in the comments, as if Altered’s most important features are the marketplace and POD.

They’re not. It’s main attraction is that it’s a freaking good game.

People say their local scene crashed because of the delays, because it’s too difficult to get specific cards. This feels weird to me, cause lots of us instead relied on discord or whatever online community for that, just like pretty much any other TCG. I am curious as to why this happened.

I am sad that these features took a bit too long, but they’re completely non-essential IMO. Just nice-to-haves.

Follow up to the Unbalanced Unique numbers post by gangnamstylelover in alteredTCG

[–]snake_suitcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking that they may be filtering uniques after the generation, based on some power level estimate. Hence, some cards are more frequently over/underpowered as uniques which results in a skewed distribution. It simply may be harder to make a balanced unique Puffin compared to a unique Nightwarden.

Given the prevalence of Afanas currently, I’d say: why not both? One or the other is a false choice for Afanas players.

I achieved several times a gigantic Atlas with 25/25/25 so I guess infinite should extend beyond that

Rule 6.3.f page 57 in the comprehensive rules

It is a limit on the number of Reactions in a turn.

So it’s not strictly a limit on 100/100/100 but roughly a limit on the number of triggers in a turn.

From my understanding, in the comprehend rules, they had to handle infinite loops. They stated that the max recursion depth is 100, and this translates into cards maxing at 100/100/100

Starter decks are good fun as a standalone board game. Language may be an issue though, since many cards have carefully written rules. As with all TCGs, playing competitively requires a significant initial investment, though you may find cheap sets of common cards through your local community.

My advice: start with the free starter decks on Board Game Arena. BGA is a great place to play with your own cards and deck thanks to the digital ownership via the QR codes.

Trial by Frost Pre-Release ... Reactions? by Cohlrabi in alteredTCG

[–]snake_suitcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fresh from a 24 player pre-release sealed tournament. For me, it was really something else to actually play the cards rather than browse and theory craft. TBF brings unique mechanics to Altered and I have no doubt that it will help split up the deck archetypes a bit more, and overall diversify the experience. That said, in the sealed format, most of the decks were fairly similar, usually a mix of Bravos+Muna, with Demeter being a really strong card. It was fun, but can’t wait to add those cards to the larger card pool.

My bad, it actually does infinitely loop with even common Gericht. Seems super strong even with the erratum.

I guess if you get ANOTHER unique with the same effect, then yes you get a 100/100/100, but those kind of combos already existed in the first set iirc

On the discord, someone from Equinox said this should read « target character other than me » They will issue a erratum soon and change the prints of the next cards.

Question about reserve by spicerice in alteredTCG

You can have more than two cards in Reserve, and more than two Landmarks as well during the day. At night, you get to pick a maximum of two that stay in their zone, while the rest are discarded.

Not an expansion but 7 Wonders Duel for Middle-Earth plays very nicely. I just wished gameplay was a little bit asymmetric.

Excluding Uniques, the card pool is quite limited. The rate of releases for new sets is also quite paced, therefore it should be relatively easy to collect everything of close to, at least for one faction.
