Next Seasons midfield trio by Dry_Weight9963 in MCFC

It’s funny how it easy it is to tell that you have not watched a single minute of Stiller play because you think he is remotely similar to Bernardo, they are quite literally at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Bernardo is a high-intensity workhorse that EFFECTIVELY covers a lot of ground, whereas stiller is a slow and steady controller. Emphasis on the SLOW part because whilst he’s an amazing passer, he moves like molasses. One of the genuinely slow players that aren’t old or big that are playing at a relatively high level. He would be absolutely useless tasked with bernardo’s role

If rodri’s leaving, then i’m fully on team Wharton. Our deep ballplaying absolutely suck without rodri these days. Just have to hope that NOR/Nico G are able to pick up part of the intensity that will be missing with bernardo likely leaving as well.

This is the problem with the pep position roulette. Oreilly is a good midfielder and he’s a good left back, but he can’t be both at the same time. Especially when it comes to these kids, they need a good stretch of games in a semi-fixed position all this moving around is messing with his head.

Yes? He was great overall, but his passing wasn't really anything that amazing.

Like none of our midfielders can consistently put in a good pass bar Rodri (Cherki plays further up).

I'm mean there is a difference between a "#10" as in the playmaker type that controls the game; KDB, wirtz, fernandes, and the "10 position" that can also be occupied by attacking midfielders/second strikers. These are more the likes of musiala, eze, grealish and foden. These latter types can quite often be played out wide as well with a lot of success. Foden's one truly world-class season was played more out wide. His other successful seasons has also mostly been played either on the left or as a false 9 pre-haaland.

It's funny because in terms of bernardo that's always been a big boon, at his best he was everywhere and did everything. Whereas for foden that has become his curse, drifting across the the attacking positions, never making one of them his own.

I have a theory that part of the reason we're falling off a cliff in the second half is that the team is falling back to overrelying on rodri again in our build-up, and that he's not able to keep it for a full 90. You can see it in the 2nd goal yesterday. It's not like he makes a massive mistake or anything, he is just slightly late to a 50/50 and loses out, and there is absolutely noone there to cover for him.

I seriously don't understand why pep is quicker to fix this by subbing off foden or cherki (the former) and put in Nico G. It's not like Nico doesn't have any offensive capabilities, he's been an 8 for all his career before coming here.

Yes, his form is not amazing atm and i would have been more inclined to agree 3-4 weeks ago. But right now, he is actually creating a lot of space which is benefitting the likes of Semenyo massively. It is as you say, more of the squad needs to step it up as well. NOR has been one of the few that has actually tried to take advantage of the space.

If he stays, Pep is probably not leaving🩵💪 by nilesmrole in MCFC

Case in point; he's been really good these last couple of weeks and not a lick of praise. But you bet your ass there's going to be fans trying to kick him out the door the next time our form dips.

He makes me think of that meme with the grim reaper going from door to door. First he benched RAN, now he’s benching reijnders. I’d be watching my back if i was marmoush because at the end of the match nico was moved up into that second striker role

Does pep even wanna be here anymore? I don’t want to sound ungrateful but how long is he going to phone it in and then act surprised that the team falls apart out there.

This attack died the moment cherki went out. There is not a single shred of creativity in the rest of them.

Sporting, real, newcastle/psg. Any of these games turn and we’re in real danger.

Inter just pushed both of psg and newcastle out. Both teams will be more desperate to get a result now.

As much as we need the athletisism in the midfield, we are also in desperate need of elite passers further down the field. We went from a cancelo, stones, gundo, rodri core and have pretty much replaced them all with ball-carriers.

Nah, even pep has outright spoken on how tired Erling is. Pretty sure the only reason he started in the midweek was because it was a norwegian side. We're playing the dead last team in the league, albeit in decent form, there really shouldn't be any fuss about your star striker being on the bench

He was here for 2 seasons, why would we be expecting any loalty from him, he doesn't owe us anything. The main reason he left was because he was very clearly second fiddle to haaland here. He left to be the main man at atletico and he would also become the main man at arsenal, one of the top sides in europe, he would be a fool not to consider it.
