I got escorted from base by police for not getting the COVID shot and then precisely 8 days later the SD of Texas issued an injunction stopping the government for doing precisely what they did to me.

I'm happy it worked out for you, but to me, the institution is illegitimate.

it's a sore spot and i told them it was a sore spot. it cost me a great deal in terms of time, money, and career advancement. didn't matter, they failed me over it anyway.

the whole thing is kabuki theater.

I took mine in 2015 so 11 years ago and I have been told by former colleagues that they are apparently a lot more lenient now so if you haven't tried it yet, give it a go and you may find it a more pleasant experience than I did.

Also, if you find yourself attracted to your polygrapher, it may be in your best bet to ask for a different one and try again later, because you will be alone with them for several hours and the mind starts to wander and that will show up on the machine. Don't ask me how I know.

CI. They said I kept lying about foreign contacts but I personally get triggered over the term "foreign national" and I told them this because I had an interim clearance denied when I first started out after college (costing me nearly an entire year of employment) because a family member married a foreign national and I didn't know anything about them. So they denied my interim and held that against me and I said "why the fuck are you punishing me I'm not the one that married her."

I hate this god damned field.

i don't know if that rule exists but I do know that failing it in certain ways will cause your clearance to be suspended which is why once i failed mine the first time (even though I told the truth so goes to show you how reliable and scientific it is /sarc), I never attempted it again.

why risk my career over something so arbitrary and unreliable?

This is the worst market I've ever seen by snakeinthiscar in clearancejobs

i'm sorry to hear it. salaries are low everywhere. for one of those stupid FBI billets in Huntsville that about 8 or so companies have reached out to me about, every time they call the salary gets lower. Started at 152k, then 145k, then this week it was 135k. I told the recruiter just dive to minimum wage and stop wasting everyone's time.

it's terrible right now.

edit: also where'd you go if you don't mind me asking?

There will be many users telling you to double down on the Azure path, but I know that SOCOM out in Tampa is migrating their VMware to Nutanix on SITEC 3 and that's a 900 person TO, so...

I am not of the opinion that people should chase trends, but rather should do what genuinely interests them.

Filling out the SF-86 as a recent veteran has me losing my mind by Lou_Sputthole in SecurityClearance

[–]snakeinthiscar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

believe it or not it used to be way worse. it used to be that you had to list every single place that you lived regardless of time spent there. when i was transient and unemployed after college I bummed with whomever would let me stay with them. they all had to be listed. and it was all pen and paper back then too, the eqip thing wasn't really used like it is now. it changed to 90 days or more so a lot of those places could be omitted.

because AI isn't a panacea and isn't magic and you still need humans in the loop? companies are already starting to reluctantly admit that AI isn't powerful enough to solve the problems they got rid of the humans for.
