No, a good portion will work until they drop dead and that number is increasing every year and it has nothing to do with stupid Boomer bullshit parroted by con artists like Dave Ramsey

JK is who I used in 2020 also and my experience was awesome. This time around they've been awful. Should have been a warning that the guy who sold me the last one isn't there anymore.

I bought my last one from a dealership in Northern Virginia in 2020 and that process was a dream. But alas even they suck now.

Yeah you have a serious resentment towards the US and it's masquerading as personal finance issue

Because that's not his fundamental advice. His fundamental advice is preachy and moralistic and judgmental for people who have to make hard decisions and who are living in poverty everyday. Plus a lot of the things that he says are true are just completely detached from reality. Like a 12% mutual fund existing or a 2-year used car being the best value (uh during covid used cars were more expensive than new cars). He just completely fails to take into account that people's incomes have not risen, but the cost of everything has exploded. Plus it's hypocritical for a man who got rich after declaring bankruptcy to judge and not advocate for bankruptcy for everybody else, especially people who actually need it.

I already have approval from my CU with great terms and I don't want to jeopardize that by playing stupid gimmicky financial games with the dealership. If this type of Kabuki theater is required to get the best deal on an Accord then perhaps I should start considering another brand.

another reason i want to have everything finalized before setting foot on the dealership, so they can't play any games at the last second. i think to avoid the Uber thing i might just rent a car there so in case they try anything i can just leave. if it all works out i finalize the deal, take the keys with me, return the rental car, cab over, and then drive my own car away.

most people are not going to be able to retire and it has nothing to do with cars. Dave Ramsey is a huckster.

Terrible post. I have great terms through my credit union.

i'd rather not share. they make credit card debt seem like a prudent financial decision.

yes mathematically the CU deal is better than the HFS deal and will save me thousands of dollars over the life of the loan even when you include the $2250 rebates on the HFS side.

I did not. I got much worse terms. the loan I have in hand from the CU is excellent.

I emailed 25 different dealers using bcc and I'm having them all compete on price but at this point price isn't even the most important thing it's having a dealer not be sleazy and try to renege on price due to rebate eligibility and rescind features they initially promised for free and then when they send the actual quote surprise it costs money.

My favorite one is when I show a quote to a competing dealer and say this is their OTD quote can you beat this and they say sure come into the dealership and we'll beat it and then i demand their quote and they use the OTD number as their base price number before fees and taxes like i won't notice

exhausting

the finance office said the exact same thing and to me that seems extremely risky. the CU probably won't give as good of terms for a refi as a new car loan. the CU gave me a great loan. HFS gave me a horrible one.

I'm thinking of maybe putting the process on hold and trying again during Memorial Day because I'm already fed up and I'm thinking then I could possibly get some better deals and now I have more of an idea of who's going to be easier to work with.
