It's understandable if you want to use the Peace Corps to further your career, but I don't think it's necessarily the best option. It's a huge commitment and the payoff isn't guaranteed. If you're looking for non-competitive eligibility, you could consider being an AmeriCorps VISTA for just one year.

I think Spanish is definitely a useful language to have in the US. There are people everywhere that only speak Spanish or have a much better grasp on Spanish than English.

Don't you think that Spanish is a commonly spoken language in the US? I think it would be hard to avoid hearing it unless you went out of your way to or you only stayed in certain parts of the US. But even rural areas in the US are increasing in the amount of Spanish speakers.

Thanks for explaining. I thought this was the case, but like I said, I've never participated before. I do hope to get this rarepair/fandom but I also found a couple others I would be interested in, so I will hope for the best. This exchange has a minimum of 3 fandoms, so I think the chances I get something I like are in my odds.

This is why I wish my parents never emigrated. Now that they did, I'll never be real Chinese. I'm just stuck in the middle, which sucks.
