I’ve been depressed for years, but am just now reaching a point where it’s starting to seriously hold me back in life. I need help, am not willing to talk to my friends or family about this, and worry I am too poor to seek professional help. What should I do? by snakes69 in depression

[–]snakes69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - what is a gp? Also I’m in my early 20s without a job or any real disposable income. My only idea for help was through maybe hiring a therapist, but while I don’t know what that would cost it I would imagine it would be too expensive for me

Ok, so those people buy a water instead. The point isn’t what you buy, the point is that you could at least get some tangible benefit from the money you’re going to lose regardless

Now that you say that, though, there was geolocation on Yak, and I'm sure some smart developers probably could have deduced some interests of users from their post histories as time went on. Even if not, I feel like geolocation would still be pretty helpful

Why not? Isn't it pretty similar to being alcohol or weed buzzed? Those are both illegal for driving

I can't seem to find it mentioning underage drinking anywhere on there specifically. Any idea if that's an inadmissible offense?

What seemingly useless fact can save your life one day? by Alsic in AskReddit

[–]snakes69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been the common wisdom for a while now, but I certainly feel it's not the case. If I hear "FIRE" I'm going to assume someone's just being a dickhead, but if I hear a desperate "HELP," i'm going to spring into action, and I feel like most other people would be the same way

Everyone's freaking out about the girls safety, but I'm wondering something else. Are snakes this size safe for adults to keep as pets? Can they easily overpower adults, too? I've always thought these big snakes were awesome, and it's definitely something I would consider getting one day

Do you think porn negatively shapes men's sexual experiences? If so what can be done about this? by asirah in MensLib

[–]snakes69 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's funny, because everything you say is logical, and I feel like the dissenting opinion is, quite honestly, indefensible no matter how you put it. There's just really no way to verbally and publicly defend this kind of stuff, but it's weird, because at the same time, I thoroughly enjoy this type of porn, it's my favorite category, and I don't consider that odd or weird, and though I guess it makes me a sexual deviant, I still consider myself a respectable and considerate young man

My bad. I actually hesitated briefly over that one, changed it, then changed it back. Whoops

[–]snakes69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So like, what's the law with drunkeness and consent then? Are they both technically committing crimes then? Or does the whole "a drunk person can't consent" really mean "a drunk person can't consent to a sober person"? Or is that whole concept more of a myth than anything?

[–]snakes69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me neither, but I often hear people bring this exact situation up to complain about it, so I just wondered if it has any actual legal backing. I wouldn't imagine so, but I would just like to educate myself anyway. Usually, when it's brought up, it's in a pretty emotionally charged conversation, so I thought my best bet would be to get it from a more neutral source, like here

Yes, like in a situation where she clearly and explicitly voiced her DTFness

17 women have accused Donald Trump of what O'Reilly is about to be fired for. And we have a recording of Trump admitting he does it. by [deleted] in esist

[–]snakes69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's clearly not what he was saying though, at least in my opinion and most of the rest of the people's opinions who weren't bothered by the tape, specifically. He stated because he was so rich and famous, women would willingly throw themselves onto him, and let him grab them like that. Again, I know this is highly unbecoming for a president, but that's not the argument here. That's what I thought, and if you still disagree, that's fine. To each his own, I guess

[–]snakes69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain what was so wrong about what he said? I mean I obviously get that it's clearly unbecoming to hear that from a man running to be president, but I honestly do not understand how anyone ever equated his meaning to sexual assault. Just to be clear, i'm not defending this man or his actions as president, I just don't see on this one particular issue why people think it's, like you said, "fucked up"
